This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Video Games: What are you playing?

I played through about half of Final Fantasy 2, recently.    I made it to the Land of Carnage post-game section in Disgaea 5.  Still playing Eve Online.   No other video games recently.

While I'm not playing it, I'm seeing a LOT of flak being fired at EA's latest Madden (22).

It seems EA opted for the CDPR/Bethesda school of development, because there are some astonishing fuck ups in this iteration. Bugs where the game forgets you scored points and will decide you lost a game. Bugs where the players glitch out (not to mention the referees). And my personal favorite, a bug that spawns in a fucking house in the middle of the field.

Comedy fucking gold.

I miss NCAA and Blitz or at least some Arcadey style of football game. The ONLY EA sports game I currently like is Golf and I'm not a fan of actual Golf coverage or playing the real game.

I tried No Man's Sky again after being told it was redeemed and good now.

Remind me to never listen to the Internet again. The game went from disastrous wreck to mediocre survival sim. Has anyone actually played it recently or do you all just get your opinions from the flashy trailers? I really must know because the game I actually played is not the game the internet is describing to me.  It's a dull game with tedious survival mechanics. Backed up by half assed new features that barely interact with one another. Every single thing you do is just a grind to get to the next grindy bit. There's no real sense of agency or reactivity from AI factions compared to say the X games.

Also I played the new Pathfinder game. The characters annoyed me but I'm still enjoying the game.

I'd heard there was lots more content for NMS, so I gave it a go.
There's definitely an improvement, But yeah, the survival part is pretty boring.
Still, that could be that I've played a lot of survival sim type games, so the bar is probably higher quality wise for me.
Since then I've not really played it much, although I might play it again on the weekend to check out some of the new towns features. If that's interesting enough, it might be worth playing some more.

Actually, I reinstalled Freelancer ( a space sim from 2003). As a newish HD graphics mod came out that also fixes some Windows 10 compatibility issues . I've quite enjoyed that.

I didn't really like the Pathfinder CRPG much, it felt quite clunky to me.
I DID get Solasta, a CRPG based on DND 5e, which was pretty fun and moved pretty fast. It had a fun story too.

Currently finishing up Wasteland III (it's excellent if you like tactical turn-based gaming).

About to dive into Back 4 Blood until Battlefield 2042 drops (barring any SJW bullshit... thus far DICE seems to have learned their lesson)

oggsmash

Neverwinter Nights Enhanced edition.   I played it a good bit years ago when it was first released, and had all the expansions (though I did not play the campaign that much, and enjoyed the persistent worlds and playing the player made and premium modules that were available) and I liked it alot.  I do not know if it is nostalgia, or some tweaks they made to the game, or that games are just not really moving forward to my liking, but I enjoy it a lot today as well.

Lurkndog

I'm playing Super Robot Wars V. This one has Space Cruiser Yamato as one of your playable capital ships. So far it's fun, though the SRW games have a tendency to get lost in their own grindy metagame. I'm also enjoying the original player character, who's a cross between Spike from Cowboy Bebop and Maverick from Top Gun.

Mind Crime

Brigandine: Legacy of Runersia. Awful name but love the brigandine games. I try to keep an eye out for anything Atlus ports over. And whatever else catches my eye on psnow. So many options I end up with choice paralyses. Anything to keep me away from the everquest emus.

Wastrel Wednesdays, livestream with Dungeondelver

The Witch-King of Tsámra

Finally finishing Alien isolation, playing Cyberpunk Dreams on the reg and I just beat no one lives under the lighthouse which is a weird horror game from wouldn't you know it; Russia.
Playing: Nothing sadly
Running: Tales of Gor, FKR Star Wars, Vampire 4th edition

Drox Operative 2 is out of beta and I'm digging the carnage.

I reinstalled No Man's sky recently, as there's been so many updates, it's worth another look.
So far, it's been pretty fun and certainly has a lot more content since  I played it last some years ago.
Agreed. I will give full credit to Hello Games for what has to be the comeback story of the goddamn decade. I can't think of ANY game -- not just vidya, but any -- that's managed to turn things around this well.

Final Fantasy 14.  Went from a disaster of an MMO that gave it's early adopters free play time for almost a year to make up for how bad it was, to being one of the best MMOs going right now.

I stand corrected. Well played. :)

American Truck Simulator. Yup, it is as addictive as they say and no one can explain why.
For every idiot who denounces Ayn Rand as "intellectualism" there is an excellent DM who creates a "Bioshock" adventure.
