Video Games: What are you playing?

Just started playing GTA IV, something I have owned for years, but never even put in the drive. I discover I'm terrible at driving, largely because braking doesn't seem to work well.

Driving in GTA IV is an experience unto itself. It's... terrible, but fun once you get the hang of it.

V's driving was much more enjoyable, but the plot (while interesting) wasn't nearly as well done as IV, in my opinion.

I uninstalled Apex Legends because I finally got fed up with microtransactions. I'm tired of them being in the games I play.

They actively detract from the fun of playing the games.

Driving is entirely hit and miss for me, the handling of most of the cars is awful. I'm not looking forward to any missions that require me to chase someone down, or worse race them.

Quote from: SimonGamer;1078956You might call me crazy but I'm still playing League of Legends and been doing so since 7 years already. :p

I feel like Riot efficiently tackles the repetitivity of the game with their new season changes and stuff. Sure, at some point it might stop being enough but for now that's good. I think they've noticed it themselves as they've began working on a new game :)

As per what I don't like in the game it would be the pain in the ass to make new accounts there - it takes over 2 months of few hours daily play to get an account to level 30 - that's slavery. While there are websites aiming to solve this issue my policy has always been that I'm not going to spend a dime on a game after I've initially purchased it. Thus I hate micropayments, you should pay for a game once, get it and be done on the money part

It's a competitive PvP game.  I still play as well, on and off, and it's a good thing that new players are required to play a whole bunch of games before they can play ranked.  The potential for frustration on everyone's part otherwise would be immense.  It also adds a price tag to getting account banned -- either you have to do the leveling again, or pay money to buy a leveled one.

Still playing GTA4, I'm at least a bit better at gunplay than driving. Cars make nice mobile cover for gunfights, if only it were possible to put them in neutral and roll them forwards.

I've discovered the pinnacle of awful driving: motorbikes. If cars weren't bad enough, they're even worse.

OMG. I never. EVER used a motocycle outside of when it absolutely made me. If I could find an excuse to swap to a car, always did. Those were the absolute worst!

Where you at, mission-wise? (I'm assuming spoilers aren't appropriate for a... 12? year old game.)

I got "Surviving mars" on PS4.  It's quite fun and once you get used to the console controls, pretty easy to navigate around.
I DID get a wireless keyboard and mouse on the PS4 to use with the game, but I found it more convenient to sit back on the sofa and use the controller, than crouch over a keyboard and mouse.

I got "No Man's sky" on PS4 as well, which is a fun distraction at times.

Also got Horizon zero dawn on PS4, which is GREAT fun, but I generally play that for long gaming sessions on weekends.

So yeah, my PC is a bit neglected atm... poor thing!

I'm still not that far through. Vlad is dead and I'm just about to meet Dmitri, who I think is about to betray Mikhael.

Starting to get really annoyed with GTA4's clunky controls. If I fail this mission to take out Mikhael once more, because I'm fighting to get him to do anything I want, I'll give up.

I've got Sleeping Dogs installed which I haven't even played yet, I thought I should play the inspiration first...

Sleeping Dogs is awesome, I found the control scheme on PC much less annoying than the GTA games.  The fighting is inspired by the Batman Arkham series and is pretty damn fun.
I made a blog: Southern Style GURPS

Just finished Detention and Deltarune. Now playing Into the Breach and Puyo Puyo Tetris.

I enjoyed that part of the game. That part and the middle I thought were the best parts. Towards the end things felt, to me, like they were lagging a bit. (But it did pick back up, even if I, personally, am not a fan of the final missions, the story did at least pick up again.)

What I won't be playing (since I don't have a hot gaming rig or next generation console) is Jedi: Fallen Order. Although in that case because they're expecting me to invest in generic, preppy, white guy protagonist (with a strong Anakin Skywalker vibe), with no customisation. Like it's the 1990s or something, and you can only have the character the developers decided was appropriate. Mass Effect let me make the protagonist my own over a decade ago.

If they prove to me there's 0 loot boxes and 0 DLC that's really mandatory to get the story at launch (I'm OK with stuff that's truly something extra) then I'll think about it.
