Video Games: What are you playing?

Oh and for the curious. On Steam they have the new Tales of Candlekeep - Tomb of Annihilation board game up as a PC game on sale.
Looks like a port of the board game and seems to be using overall the same rules. (4e)
Unfortunately looks like it is single player only? And some addons for the characters are DLCs. Cheap, but still DLCs.

Imaginos

About 70% complete with Mass Effect Andromeda on the PS4.  Overall enjoyable game, with some video glitches that happen (drinking from missing cup is my most common).  Also try to RP and stay in character for the main guy, to be consistent as if I were playing him at a game table.

Quote from: Krimson;995556I bought a Nintendo 2DS XL a little over a week ago. I'm playing Pokémon Sun. This is my first Nintendo device since I bought a GameCube over a decade ago. No regrets.

I bought myself a 2DS XL for Christmas, and got my older daughter the same, while my youngest the 2DS (flat panel unit).  We are all enjoying them - I finished Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds - thought it was great.  The older one is playing Pokemon a lot, not sure which one she said she just beat.  I don't let the youngest take hers to her mom's just because of things getting lost over there.

I currently play Path of Exile, as if it is a MMO RPG, but not much of an RPG. I really like this game, relaxes me after a day of work. Anyway, I've spent so much money on PoE currency that it would be stupid to stop.

I remember TES Morrowind very well, and I have never played Oblivion or Skyrim before. Are they somehow connected? If, at first, in Oblivion, will it be compatible with Skyrim mythology?

I am still getting the most millage out of FTL.  I love that little game.

I just finished Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds on ultrahard, which was really, really, really rough.  I also finally got around to finishing X-COM: Enemy Within and now I'm getting ready to start up Battle Chasers: Nightwar.

I've been picking away at Forma.8 when I only have a little time to play something.  It's a fun metroidvania style game with more exploring and less combat.

On my 3DS I'm playing Metroid: Samus Returns and having a blast with it.

I've been playing VA-11 HALL-A on my Vita and the most I can really say is that it's interesting.  It's pretty much a VN with some unique characters and a little bit of strategy/memory required to get to the different endings.  It's definitely not for everyone, but if you like cyberpunk and visual novels you may like it.

Yeah, POE is fun. You should try Titan Quest, though, especially with the expansions. I've played many, many, Diablo clones, and TQ is the absolute best by far (like 28 classes?).

Oblivion and Skyrim have the same mythology, because they're set in the same world. They're not in the same country, though, but they reference each other quite a bit. Skyrim's the better game by far, but Oblivion is pretty good, too.

A nice education blog.

Voros

I'm enjoying short punchy games right now so I reinstalled Tallowmere, a fun rogue-light and Battleblock Theater, the funniest game I know.

Itachi

Nier Automata came out of nowhere and blew my mind. One of the best gaming experiences ever for me.

DayZ - really nice Horror Survival, little similiar to other battle royals

I'm just wrapping up all the side quests and collectible hunts for Assassin's Creed III.  I have very mixed feelings about the game.  On the one hand, probably the best storyline I've ever seen in a video game, definitely best of the AC series.  The whole alternative American Revolution aspect is just too much fun.  I spent half the game with wikipedia opening, checking every single character's name to find out if they were a real person.  The missions are fun, the setting is great.

Shame about the controls and the menus though.  So much of the game feels rushed, with important scenes occurring in the wrong order -- like there's a narration in which Conner talks about "years passing" when the screen says "Six Months Later" and he talks about "growing and changing," but looks exactly the same.  Then you complete the next mission and suddenly the game advances four years with no warning and Connor looks completely different, and you realize the narration was supposed to happen after your most recent mission, not before.

Also, many of the menus present the options as "(B) Decline (A) Accept" which is just dumb -- you never put Option B before Option A.  Or how you use the left joystick to move, but then when you go to the map you use the right joystick to move and the left to select different displays, so when you flip to the map your instinct is to move with your left thumb, and instead you end up switching through different submaps and menus.  Just horrible interface design all around.

Oh, and like all Assassin's Creed games, it still keeps interrupting the cool, interesting game so that you can play as Desmond Miles in the stupid metaplot.

Ark.  On the Xbox.  I was an avid PC gamer years ago and loved Age of Conan, but it was quite a time sucker and with kids no way I could play that and still call myself a parent now a days.  Ark sucks time, but my kids play it with me, and on a server it is alot of fun.  Has a bit of everything in it.

Doom

Decided to do Far Cry 5. It's "more of the same" but that's not necessarily a bad thing if you like 3 and 4. The "exotic" environment this time is Montana. I feel some qualms about the Christian Fundamentalists being villains (Christ is never mentioned but it's not a stretch to say whatever religion they're practicing is similar to the most common religion to North America).

Currently playing Leisure Suit Larry 3.
Come to think of it, I should also finish Witcher 3

I finished it, and by the game's end I can't give it more than a "C".  It took the worst aspects of the prior two games and cranked them up to 11.  It's really a shame, because everything but the main plot stuff is pretty damn fun.  As for the villains, they're more Jim Jones, David Koresh, or Hong Xiuquan than actual Christians.
