This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Quote from: CRKrueger;953306At least Kosmos found out what he said that was supposedly homophobic.

Weird though, even if you thought butthurt referred to anal sex, women take it up the keister too, so why not misogynistic?

Quote from: Tristram Evans;953309well, yeah, and if the joke referred to forced buttsex, why not misandrist even?

Actually I don't believe it is homophobic I have spent time over the last several day looking it to it and every time I find an origin from a reputable source its in reference to SPANKING not anal sex.

The only places I find claiming it's a homophobic slur of some kind all fall in to one of A few category's.

1  Some one is to lazy to actually look something up and is pulling it out of there ass.

2 It's an outrage brigade or an sjw site that as normal is looking for A reason to be offended and attack the rest of us(The you can't say that because I decided it's bad types fall in the category to).

3 Last but actually what seems to be one of the more prevalent forms is A specific form of the sjw outrage set where they are trying to make it homophobic in there brand of new speak to try and forward a certain brand of quasi political ideology.

The reason I stopped responding to him wasn't that I bought his load of crap I decided I was done arguing with an idiot moron who would rather accuse me of deliberate using a homophobic slur when his poorly thought out argument don't hold up then actuly think critically.

In short I went.

Now can we get back on topic I like this thread and I don't want to see some mod close it because we got too rowdy.

Yeah. I've really been enjoying the old Star Trek games (25th Anniversary and Judgement Rites) but I had to stop playing the TSR silver-box games before they completely ruined my memories of them.

I never got the play these games when they first came out.  I'm only now finding myself with time/money for computer games, so I've been exploring the games I missed out in my childhood.

Alpha Centauri is a lot of fun, sound bugs not withstanding.  I've dabbled with the original Master of Orion, 1 and 2.  Great games, but I have terrible luck in them.  I've heard good things about the Ultima series, but have never played them.  Maybe I'll try them next.  :)

I'll check out the Star Trek games thanks. I liked Alpha Centauri too noman and I usually suck at that kind of strategic game. I've played Ultima 3 and have Martian Dreams and Ultima 7 to complete.

I'm a bit in love with the old Infocom text adventures like Zork and A Mind Forever Voyaging. I find the text parsing, absurdly obtuse puzzles and instadeaths annoying but worth it for the stories and their imaginative power and refreshingly adult tone and humour. No instadeath in A Mind Forever Voyaging though. And happily they are all available on iOS for a good price.

I believe it is a later game and it has been remastered for PC and Mac but King of Dragon Pass is a masterpiece that blew me away. I love the politics, religion, difficult decisions, etc. But I suck at farming so my people always starve to death. It is what sparked my interest in Runequest.

And finally I can't recommend the games of Inkle enough, their adaptation of Steve Jackson's Sorcery! 1-4 are great, particularly 3 (haven't finished 4 yet but it is also excellent so far). Their Around the World in 80 Days is also loads of fun. They're games are deliberate throwbacks to the text adventures of the 80s but with an elegant modern interface.

Those were fantastic. I still play them online on occasion. I miss that sort of videogame. They could have a modern adventure that combines that style with a modern graphic interface, but the only example I can think of something being attempted in that vein was the old Starship Titanic game by Douglas Adams.

Checkout Inkle's Sorcery! series. The first one is just a taste of the greatness to come but they're all worthwhile.

The one based on Steve Jackson's series? I have all of them and recommend them as well, if that's the case.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

Right now, I am playing the hell out of Mad Max. It combines some fantastic stuff. I especially love making enemy vehicles/convoys explode. :D
Running:
Dungeon Crawl Classics (influences: Elric vs. Mythos, Darkest Dungeon, Castlevania).
DCC In Space!
Star Wars with homemade ruleset (Roll&Keep type system).

Yep those are the ones I mean. Their game based on Around the World in 80 Days is also very good. They're working on an original fantasy game right now too.

My problems in Overwatch comes down to two things really.

The company nerfing the fun out of my favorite character.

And the massive amount of cheating that takes place on the PC version. I no longer regard it as a safe environment in which to just enjoy playing the game.

I don't care if I win or lose in Overwatch. I care about just having fun. And the fun is destroyed by the overwhelming presence of cheating in the game.

The fact one high profile bad actor was shown using DDOS attacks against players on the opposing side to score cheap wins convinced me that things with Overwatch are way too far out of control, to ever consider going back to it.

Spike

Still playing Warframe and Fallout 4.  Despite being a purpose built gaming machine, my box seems to be failing me utterly on Deus Ex, as neither Mankind Divided nor the fancy pants edition of Human Revolution will get out of the intro-screen, though MD crashes and HR just pops up as a 3x5 card sized image of the menu that makes my heart weep tears of bitter rage... adn yes, I have gone and changed the settings to the 'my machine is as powerful as a breadbox' settings, and still no luck.

I was hoping to be playing Mass Effect, but... well... no. Not now, and sadly it seems, not ever. Not even once.  There is just too much shit in the mayonase to eat that sandwich.  Shame.

I'd like to say I'm playing the latest XCOM, but given my graphics problems, and the reports I heard of buggy designs, I haven't put the ducats in for it, and while I DID download the beta for Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, by the time the actual full game (rather than the tutorial only missions) came out, its time had passed for me.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

I really want to play the new XCOM, loved the reboot, particularly the expansion that included mechs. Got to save up my pennies, I was kinda hoping it would have had a Steam sale by now. Or it did and I missed it.

It has been on sale a couple times, but I don't think they've gone past 40% off so far.  Maybe 50%.  Not far enough for me to have bought it yet, in any case.  (I generally look for things to be at least 60% off before buying them on Steam.  And I still have an endless backlog of Steam games to play...)

Currently playing Dishonored 2, great atmosphere, hundreds of different gameplay mechanics, it's cool :)
