As a complement to the other game thread I thought it would be nice to have a place to talk about our expectations, hopes, dreams, and fears for upcoming games :)
Personally I'm looking forward to Halo 5 but I'm not sure if it's enough to make me spring for an Xbone. It'll be good for sure but the library is just so freaking weak right now.
I'm also pretty hopeful for No Man's Sky which looks amazing but holy crap they are promising the moon so I'm also pretty cautious.
I've yet to dive into the 8th generation aside from the Wii U because honestly the libraries are just terrible at the moment. Certainly not worth the outlay IMO.
Mostly I'm looking forward to Nintendo titles and while I'm bummed by Zelda getting pushed back Splatoon and Star Fox should fill the gap.
What about you guys?
I'm mostly waiting for That Which Sleeps, a game where you are supposed to play the Big Bad waiting to return to the world and lay waste to it.
I Lovingly got an Xbox One for Christmas so Halo 5 is going to be in my hot little hands on release day!!
I feel the same as the OP about No Man's Sky.
I want to get excited about Sword Coast Legends, but I'm worried it will lame with inane in app purchases, and no ability to modify the game. If it didn't have the purchases, and allowed for a mod community, it might become a go to for running online games of D&D.
The Witcher 3 looks promising. I hope it offers the kind of freedom that Skyrim did, and more. I don't know much about it, but it it allows mods, I might move over to it and give Skyrim a break.

Freedom? In a Witcher game? :D
I just hope I'll find the time to play the stuff I already own. Though Pillars of Eternity does look good.
Hmmm, kinda jaded about games I'm looking forward to, as the last few games I got on release were changed dramatically from what was originally promised.
Specifically, X3 and Elite Dangerous.
So I have a "Wait and see" Philosophy now.
I'm kinda looking forward to "Star Citizen" , but there's no way I'm buying into it until several months after official release and that's after I see how things pan out after release.
There's some DnD 5e type game that allows you to create your own content that sounds interesting. Sort of looks like Neverwinter Nights.
I'll be watching the development of that.
The new batman game on ps4 has my sons' interest and therefore mine as well.
honestly im falling behind on my gaming news so i dont know whats coming out soon i will go have a look and get back to you
wait are we allowed to be hyped for games we are involved in making
because if so im hyped for when we decide what the next game is going to be after the recent release of insane asylum.
I'm looking forward to Xenoblade Chronicles X and whatever Bioware has going with the newest mini-expansion for SWTOR.
And I'd be lying if I wasn't guiltily looking forward to Yoshi's Wooly World.
wait theres a new yoshi game i think i know what im excited for now
I'm not really looking forward to anything.
I'll probably pick up Persona 5, but that's because of the hype and not from any great love of the Persona series.
I might pick up Etrian Odyssey Untold 2, just because I've bought all the others. But I haven't played much of any of the others either, so I may finally quit hoarding that particular franchise.
The only video games I can think of that I might have a little excitement for are an upcoming port of Star Castle for the Atari 2600 and a potential port of Defender for the Atari 7800 in the far future.
I'm looking forward to Crowfall (http://crowfall.com/), which should be Shadowbane 2: without all the stuff that didn't work, and with all the stuff that worked in EVE. Sadly it'll be almost two years for that.
Real short term as it's coming out in 5 hours, but Age of Wonder 3 has a new expansion that's supposed to greatly improve the diplomacy and a number of other things. Also necromancers.
OK, I just learned of one that I'm interested in coming along at the end of the year. Ironically, it was announced the day before my previous post.
Project X Zone 2
Of course, my interest in that one is contingent upon Kos-Mos or some other characters I'm interested in being part of the roster. So far, only Yuri Lowell (Tales of Vesperia), Ichiro Ogami, and Erica Fontaine (Sakura Wars) fit under that bill.
Since they have Tales of Vesperian characters again, maybe this time Rapide will be in there.
Looking forward to the full release of Windward, the pirate, Age of sail game I was chatting about in another thread. It's due for full release mid May.
There's been loads of stuff added in the last week or so, which is really nice.
As I run a few servers for the game, I'm especially looking forward to release, as the dev has promised some Server managing tools for the game, which will be great.
As it stands, the server program for the game has pretty much nothing at all to actually manage the server, such as moderator tools and so on.
Still, the servers are getting busier now. I run servers using a Raspberry Pi Version 2 and I get about 6+ people on a server these days, which is pretty good for that game.
The most I've ever seen on any server is about 14 people.
It's not really a MMORPG, more a multiplayer game for less players than the 100s you expect from a MMORPG.
Still I'd love to see 20+ people on the server playing and battling.
Looking forward to the new Batman game and Battlefront.
Depression Quest 2
Mostly I'm just looking forward to getting enough free time to play games I've already got. I picked up some stuff during the Steam summer sale that I still haven't let myself sit down and really throw myself into. Elite: Dangerous was the last game I started playing (and I haven't played as much of it as I'd like), but I've got a backlog of stuff that's installed, ready to go, and I just haven't rolled up my sleeves and torn into yet.
Not least of which, Borderlands 2: The Pre Sequel, which Mrs. Crit and I are playing (and adoring) when we've got time.

Aren't we all. :)

2 or Pre-Sequel?
Playing (and also loving) both (also with my wife). BL:tPS is fun because of lasers and butt-slams and motherfucking Cyber Commando Wilhelm, but BL2 is downright one of the best written videogames I've ever played.
Pre-Sequel. We've played through BL2 three (or four?) times now, and yeah, it's just amazing, start to finish, great writing, voice acting, story, solid gameplay, you name it.
(I thought the Pre-Sequel was numbered 2 also, my bad there)
Looking forward to TES: VI if and whenever it finally comes out.
Star Wars Battlefront 3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwWLns7-xN8)
...must watch trailer with pants on...keep pants on...

You are a very (funny / bad) person!!!
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Bravely Second
That's pretty much it out of what I know is coming out relatively soon.
I've been hearing some good stuff about The Witcher III. Not sure how it'll go down but I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl.

I played maybe an hour of the first Witcher game. I was really, really lukewarm on the whole dual-wielding white-haired prettyboy Bioware-railroaded through not-WFRPland premise, but combat seemed fun. I might give it another try some day.
