This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

You need more line breaks.
"The lavish life of a powerful mercenary" kinda cracked me up.
And a game with a similar premise was KSed recently, except for the automated GM.

It goes against serious role-play for me.

1. It's a computer game.
2. It's literally a storygame, ie. the computer mechanics determine who gets to tell the story, with players even allowed to rewrite your story if the mechanics determine you fail.
3. Other Games for you...is what I think.

Other than that, the idea is interesting, just program based version of those games where you use cards or dice to determine the success or failure of your part of the story.  In almost every case though, once a beer or two has flowed, I've found much more fun is had by just BSing and tossing the dice and cards away.

Hobbit Tales is a great example.  Cool game, but every time the game got tossed in favor of just being Hobbits outdoing each other's stories.  Again, the Stouts and Porters had something to do with it, but what adult is gonna do a Hobbit Storytelling game without some form of beer or ale? :D
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Oh hell yeah.

My gaming group met yesterday, and very shortly after 6 PM (when runs usually end anyway), I just collapsed in a heap -- short sleep.

The players didn't have anywhere they had to be, and when I woke up from my stupor two hours later, found that they'd spent all that time chatting IC, and only a little bit about the upcoming expedition.  They stayed for another hour and a half, every now and then picking my sodden brain, but shooting the IC breeze still.  No dice or sheets made any appearance.  Good times.

This was a cool site, until it became an echo chamber for whiners screeching about how the "Evul SJWs are TAKING OVAH!!!" every time any RPG book included a non-"traditional" NPC or concept, or their MAGA peeners got in a twist. You're in luck, drama queens: the Taliban is hiring.

It would be out of character, for one thing.  That's IMMERSION, that is!
You should go to GaryCon.  Period.

The rules can\'t cure stupid, and the rules can\'t cure asshole.

Tell us, Conan, how you ravished the Empress of Stygia while dressed as a haddock.
D&D is becoming Self-Referential.  It is no longer Setting Referential, where it takes references outside of itself. It is becoming like Ouroboros in its self-gleaning for tropes, no longer attached, let alone needing outside context.

I don't agree with what your saying but I will fight to the death for right to say it. :)

I appreciate all of your input. I will definitely implement something to make the results more readable as suggested by AsenRG. I truly believe it is closer to a Roleplaying game. If I were going to debate my points would be the following. What is an RPG we could debate all day but I say it's to some extent just a story with some form of outside input to keep you modest and provide danger (no danger = no fun IMO).  I'm not the first one to allow players to affect the story, many systems allow Karma, or dice pools or self sacrifice to auto successfully save the rest of the party (help please I know there are more examples). The points and reroll are balanced to require a sacrifice prorated to how much impact they do, also you will get a different outcome but not necessarily a better one. The computer question! It is computer based and believe me I understand the difference between computer and rolling actual dice in a room with friends. With that said computers make things easier that's a fact, in theory if a computer program could recreate the atmosphere of pen and paper it would be hard to argue not to use it. I was never trying to replace being in the same room with friends I was just trying to supplement it for the times in between.

The point I would love to hammer home is whatever it is it's fun and was made by a guy who wanted to Roleplay and couldn't find time/players/DM. It was made to be as close to possible without those factors.

I wonder if anyone  would be interested in RPing on this forum. Make characters, I will generate the results for you and you can try it now?

Thanks again for good feedback

Okay, agreed. I think it fits into the description of an RPG. But upon further review it doesn't really fit into the original categories requirements. My bad
