This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

This needs to be allowed to speak for itself...

Quote from: Benoist;403818Microsoft is in a lose-lose, damn if they do, damn if they don't, situation here. What is really the problem is the user base on XBOX Live, and the usual racist, homophobic, armoral, immature attitude displayed by gamers as they interact with each other. Behind this, there's just a problem of parenting supervision, immature children allowed to play M-rated games and interact with all sorts of filth online, and so on, so forth.

The real problem here is us.

Instead of banning innocent people from their own ignorance, why not just have more ingame moderators. It wouldn't be hard to find examples of XBL bollocks at any time of day in any of the remotely popular online games, trust me. And whiel you're at it get rid of the fucking kids from age inappropriate games. Teach their moron parents a lesson in doing their job.

A few hardcore bans would put the fear of god into the community once the word spreads that M$ aren't taking any more shit.

That's what needs to happen. Not overzealous cretins who don't know that somewhere or someone or something called Gay is not a homophobic joke.

I tell you, if the British right wing media got hold of a recording of the average online episode of Halo/CoD/Popular Online Game (tm) the PMRC types would be apopleptic.

Unacceptable, obviously.

However youtube is part of the problem, and exacerbates this shit. As the comments say she is being prompted in this behaviour. It's not the game, it's her clearly fucked up parents. Best thign for her would be fostering. Best thing for them would be a giant steel boot through their xbox and tv.

Thus Spake Ghost Whistler

I couldn't agree more.

If that were my daughter, well, she wouldn't be doing that first of all, but if she did, she would be very displeased with the consequences.

Actually it's about time M$ did something about the effluent online. We pay them after all and they are supposed to provide us with a decent online service. That's what they advertise, but what you find is a fucking nightmare. Competitive gaming is a brutal unpleasant bloodsport designed to appeal to the hardcore player at the expense of everyone else whose desire to have fun as well is trampled on with no consuideration. it's fucking bullshit.
