This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The (kinda) Inevitable Destiny Thread

I played the Beta when they opened it up its final weekend and it sold me. I have a copy reserved for opening day, and I'm looking forward to playing it on XBox One.

I went with an Exo Warlock to start with, and I plan on doing it again.

Anyone else out there also planning on playing?

Been playing since release after work. So I've been a little slow to progress. Sitting on a Level 15 Awoken Titan right now. The game opens up steadily and nicely, IMO. Been having a great time. Looking forward to hitting Level 20 and getting some of that Legendary and Exotic equipment. Going to make several full sets of armor and weapons to customize for different Mission types.

Also on the XBone here. If you don't have anyone to play with, feel free to PM me and I'll give you my Gamertag.

How onliney is it?

I can't stand even a single facit of online games. I might be persuaded to try it if I can just completely ignore the online elements and play it basically single player.

Is that possible?

Hello there ! Is these game as awesome as touted ?

I am looking at it with envy put I am a little afraisd that too much money was poured in marketing not enough in game making.

Any insight will be welcome !

PC version isn't out yet, so I'm quite glad I've been able to read the quite "meh"-y impressions, else I might have been tempted.

Sorry, but I operate in a time zone two years removed from whatever's hot in gaming at the moment, so still busy with Guild Wars 2 and Borderlands 2. I'll look into it circa 2016.

That might be my plan, too. I felt rather burned by Diablo III.

Mandatory to play online. You can solo the missions, but other players will wander through your play area.

Funny you should mention that. Destiny is a more classy, less loot-whoring Borderlands 2.

I wrote a great review of Destiny for my geek blog, wherein I use the phrase "[C]alling Destiny an RPG is a frackin’ insult to the term... This is not motherfucking roleplaying. It’s the opposite of roleplaying. It’s shooting. Just shooting."

To be fair, that's only because Diablo III sucked and was boring.

Back for air, and I enjoy it. It may be because I haven't played any Halo since Halo 3, so with that big a break, it scratches that particular itch well. Since Destiny is that kind of shooter, I wouldn't blame anyone steeped in that kind of game for finding it ho-hum.

As far as that goes, party on with Borderlands 2, Butcher! It's the best shooter of the last generation, and I'm hoping that they'll either port it to XBone, or make the next game just as awesome and available soon.

I have finally join the fray as a Human Titan on X-box 360 (yeah, I know, I am so retro ...) ! Overall, I am quite happy with my Destiny experience, even connexion issues have plagued my gaming since day 1 ... But he auto save ensures that you don't lost any XP or loot when it happens so it is more annoying that infuriating. I'm currently at level 21 and I feverishly search for pieces of equipment contening Light.

I am still casually grinding away with my Warlock and have made to the home stretch of hitting the level 30 cap. At level 28, I've started to gently veer away from farming the strikes for engram loot, and instead am working the patrols for materials.

All I need now is an exotic armor piece, I have the coins to buy it with, and I just need Xur to come up with a piece I want.

Although the game is now about grinding out the baddies for the stuff I need, I'm still having a good time. However, I am looking forward for some DLC to come along that will hopefully expand the list of strikes and the maybe even the size of the patrol fields.

Still playing Destiny and enjoying it. My Titan has reached level 29 and I miss a 30 light helmet in order to reach level 30. I have done the Raid at level 26 and reach level 5 on the Iron Banner event (I bought the armor pieces and the rifle and got the pistol and the machine gun from IR). I have also made a Hunter who is only level 14 (but I will level her up !). I can wait for the 1st expansion ! I also hope that I will be able to finish the Raid on Hard Mode.

Future Villain Band

Just started playing last week after getting a PS4.  I'm at level 13 and enjoying it.  The combination of MMORPG and shooter is pretty refreshing, and the first expansion comes out in a couple of weeks, so that's cool.

Is it anything like Borderlands?

Also, how badly is it going to abuse my old PC?
