This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Star Wars: Force Unleashed

I got it. Played it a bit. So far, it's not all that.

You can pick up, damage, use, etc., a lot of objects with the Force, but the models aren't all that great and camera sucks. Also, it looks like a short game.

But maybe my thoughts will change after I've played it some more...

The shortness from a few reviews, is what sold me off the game. A good fifteen hours of play? I might get it for 20 bucks. But everyone is saying its about half that in play. Which doesn't make it worth a 60 buck price tag.

I played through most of the first level and, except for the camera angles and controls, I'm liking it better.

It's fun to batter folks with the Force. I picked dudes up and let 'em fall. Ha! Ha!

Exactly.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

RockViper

The demo failed to impress me, so I don't think I will be picking up the game at full price.

I didn't like the demo either, though at least there was one. Just seemed like God of War only less imaginative.

The core levels are kinda fun, but get repetitive.  The boss fights suck.  The death penalty is so non-existent that I fail to see why they bothered.  Everything else is ok.  Tack on the fact that the overall game is generally short and you end up with a game that's worth a rental until you can pick it up PV'd if you still have a burning need to play it.

All of that is true, but I'm still having fun. If you see it second hand some day or you're looking for a game to rent, give it a shot.

I'm on my second go-through - on the highest difficulty - and I figured out what it reminds me of: Crackdown.

It's funny you should mention Crackdown because Crackdown reminded me of an older xbox game called Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy which is what Force Unleashed originally reminded me of.

I didn't find it anything like Crackdown. (Crackdown's more free roaming environment, opt in races and such.) Then again I like Crackdown, but not Force Unleashed. *shrugs*

Crackdown is definitely a sandbox and Unleashed is not. Unleashed reminds me of Crackdown because of all the mowing through the mooks, the jumping, using cover, etc..

You use cover in force unleashed?  Huh, now that's just crazy talk.

Not if you're playing on Sith Master. I've got every combo, Force power, and ability at maximum level and I'm still getting my cajones handed to me every once and a while. I just played through an area where you have to take on six PURGE troopers and an AT-ST last night - over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Ahh I never got that far, just got bored with it.   It was way to much bull in a China shop game play to keep me interested.  So back to the rental place it went.

Of all my nags for the game it's the death penalty ruined it for me.  It wasn't significant enough to really make me pause for concern before rushing to the next area and it was just annoying enough to make me notice it existed.  It's more like playing on God mode with a case of the hick-ups.
