This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The new management at GW continues to astound me, as the company continues to do a complete 180 from their previous stances that earned them infamy among the gaming community...

QuoteDuring GAMA this year, Games Workshop made a major announcement that they were lifting several restrictions in regards to online selling of their product. Starting in May 2017, online websites will be allowed to list products along with pictures and descriptions. Games Workshop products can now be bought and sold just like everything else listed on our website. There will be a M.A.P. (Minimum Advertised Price) associated with these products at 15% off of the SRP.

So, I assume that the M.A.P. requirement resolves GW's original beef with online sellers? A legal agreement that prevents sellers from undercutting prices to a serious extent.

(Off-topic: Did Miniature Market change their Free Shipping Policy recently? It's been about 4 years since I've purchased from them, and I recall their $99 minimum order for free shipping to be lower in past years. GW's store has a $65 minimum, so I'm not sure of the benefit of using MM over GW. Maybe there'll be more likelihood of successfully purchasing 'limited edition' items, etc. before they sell out).

Good lord, you can put pictures up and everything? Like every other product manufacturer in the world allows, even those from supposedly Draconian IP Hell Great Britain?  You mean this whole time, GW was just being pricks for absolutely no reason whatsoever because Old Man Yells At Cloud?  Who knew?

You know a company was completely pants-on-head retarded when what's SOP for everyone else in their industry (or really any industry) seems like breath of fresh air.

Hopefully in addition to making sane decisions, I hope the CEO decides to fire the ones responsible for crazytown in the first place.

Since this IS GW after all I expect them to do something else mentally stunted to make up for anything good theyve done.

Are they still raping foreign stores online or not?

Are they still asking 50-100$ for a 5$ mini?

I believe that M.A.P. doesn't actually stop anyone from selling at whatever price they want (and thus undercutting competition) you just can't advertise a lower price. If you've ever seen things like "Prices too low to display! Add to cart to see price!" that's M.A.P. in action.
