This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I don't play computer games very often but I did enjoy the close combat series Close combat: a bridge too far, close combat: russian front, close combat :invasion normandy, etc.

I like the small squads of troops and the aerial view of things.
Do they still make games of this type?

maybe something in a fantasy setting? but just fighting, not roleplaying or kingdom management.
any suggestions?
Thanks.

Have you tried any of the Combat Mission games?

//www.battlefront.com

It started life as computer ASL (much like Close Combat), but morphed into its own thing (much like Close Combat).  It's quite fun if you ignore the fanboys.
For fuck\'s sake, these are games, people.

And no one gives a fuck about your ignore list.

No problem!  You actually inspired me to dust off Barbarossa to Berlin for some fun quick battles tonight.

While I remain partial to Beyond Overlord, I'd go for one of the later releases as they have tweaked the engine quite a bit.  CMBO is more primitive than the others on just about every level (but still a great game).

For fantasy games, I'm not aware of anything since the old Fantasy General, which should be available thru Underdogs or a similar site.
