This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hi guys, I'm a fan of RPG and fighting video game. I'm creating a video game that it has races like Halfling, Orc, Dwarf, Centaur, Mermaid, Elf, Titan...
This is a free open resource, a non profit project for the community, therefore I don't want to pr or sell it.

I've finished 30 Orc actions:

I also started to create Titan's actions, so in the playable demo, I could demonstrate the gameplay of 3 different sizes (Dwarf, Orc, Titan)

And this is first testing actions of Titan

I really want to hear your opinions about this idea.

Are you both the programmer and animator?

What are you writing the game engine in?

The images look very good, though it looks like they take a lot of time to make each one.

Also I wonder what play modes you have in mind and what input lag there will be. If it's multiplayer over Internet then the lag becomes a major gameplay issue when what happens is based on timing and positioning and responding to what you see of the other player's movements.

Also the attack animations so far seem to not give very much clue to see how they start before suddenly the attack has landed, even when the attack involves something acrobatic, which to me would be an issue. I don't like watching myself get suddenly surprised by an acrobatic move that I don't get much chance to respond to, that seems like it should create an opening because it involves large body movements and looks like it should give more time and clues before the attack lands.

Also so far it looks like a fighting game rather than RPG. I'm not sure what RPG elements you have in mind to include, or not.

I'm game programmer, and I know a little about animation.
I'm using UFE fighting engine, and they will resolve the lag problem in the next version. You can see more here http://www.ufe3d.com/doku.php/global:network

And I'm still fixing and improving the fighting animations. Titans are final bosses in this game, they are so strong and smart :banghead:

The main purpose when I started this project, is not just for entertainment, but also for education. In particular, it's a language learning system for gamers, and Japanese is the first language for learning in this game. I should use RPG elements to lure gamers for learning a new language.
Before each round, gamer has to answer several quizzes. The quiz has form: What does X mean? and four choices.
If a player answers right first, he will get bonuses like HP, DEF, ATK, GAUGE, MOVEMENT, special effect, extra skill... in the next round. If the answer is wrong, he will be punished.
You could imagine, it's similar to Test Your Luck in Mortal Kombat 9, but instead of using slot machine (or dice roller), we use language quizzes to test your might and mind.
You can read more about the concept here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=599564530

Interesting. With appropriate game balance, and fun enough gameplay, you could set these up in school halls and have players studying to get advantages against each other...

In parallel with creating fighting actions for demo, I'm also developing Action-RPG features like old school platform RPG games (Harry Potter, Kingdom Heart...). I will update more information in this weekend.
