This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm not surprised by my results. I am a tactician at heart, and I love both to kick butt and role play my characters in a believable way. I feed on this as a player. I despise the "story telling" approach to role playing, and enjoy the game world as a place where events unfold live, rather than the backdrop of some "story" I would have cooked up for the PCs.

Kinetic

You Scored as Storyteller

You're more inclined toward the role playing side of the equation and less interested in numbers or experience points. You're quick to compromise if you can help move the story forward, and get bored when the game slows down for a long planning session. You want to play out a story that moves like it's orchestrated by a skilled novelist or film director.

I hate that, too, but I still like storytelling.  Just a different kind.  ;)
"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."

It's alright, I understand: you're still in denial. You'll work it out, eventually. ;) :D

I already have.  I'm getting rid of my White-Wolf books. :D

Plus, I can run story-games alongside my CoC (and eventually OD&D) campaigns. :P

You think that gaming is a form of creative expression. You may view rules as, at best, a necessary evil, preferring sessions where the dice never come out of the bag. You enjoy situations that test or deepen your character's personality traits.

Pretty much spot-on with my assessment of myself.  Not sure I entirely agree with the text summary of Method Actor above, though.

Because therpgsite is a manly site and role playing is for real men and taking feminine magazine type of quiz isn't virile.

Agreed. I am probably more of an "Explorer" than any of the others. That is, I game to explore the game world (even if the game world is just a dungeon and a village), see new stuff, find new things, etc. A grouping that isn't even mentioned by Laws -- and really isn't covered well by any of his other groups.  I'm sure there are other styles that just aren't there.

Close, but not quite. I like rules, and rolling dice. And there are a number of things missing.

I feel like an artist when I run or play. Especially when I play, I want to express things I feel inside. I also love letting great characters be great. That doesn't mean I'm trying to force a certain story. I don't even know it means I love tactics. I think I register as a tactician in this because I have to be to get the great moments I like.

Most gms prefer to run for weakling characters, victims in their world. I hate that shit.

I think that falls under tactician. Even though it is only 75% it is still higher than some peoples highest category.

You could be right. It all feels a bit off-kilter anyway, because I mostly GM.

Yes, I wasn't sure it would be accepted well in the role-playing forum and thought that this would be best fit for it. :)
