SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Yeah. Quizzes are for pussies.

You Scored as Tactician
You're probably a military buff who wants to have the chance to think through complex problems. You want the rules, and your GM's interpretation of them, to match up what happens in the real world or at least be consistant. You want challenging yet logical obstacles to overcome.

Tactician   75%
Method Actor 67%
Specialist   58%
Storyteller   50%
Power Gamer 33%
Butt-Kicker   33%
Casual Gamer 25%

I'm not crazy about the way the questions are framed. It'd be a lot better to present them as a series of oppositions so that you can't just say "Ooh, I like all those things!" Still, I'm not very surprised at my results.

It would perhaps be more interesting to do an analysis of the responses (or failing that, of the scores) to see how people cluster. For example, I think there have been several people who had storyteller-tactician as 1-2, with probably similar ranking down the line. These are arguably the "real" types as seen in the wild.

I think that would be interesting as well.  I wasn't surprised by my results, and felt it was fairly spot on in my case.  I do find it interesting that I'm the only person who ranked Butt-Kicker as highest.

Clearly, this test was created by some random dude on the Internet, but it is based off Robin Laws' fairly famous player types.  Sure, there are probably other types of gamers out there that were not considered in Robin Laws' definitions.  However, I think that these terms and types are widely recognized in the gaming community.

I forgot to include my scores:

Casual Gamer: 75%
Method Actor: 50%
Storyteller: 42%
Specialist: 25%
Tactician: 25%
Power Gamer: 8%
Butt-Kicker: 0%

Sadly, as far as I can tell, the "Causal Gamer" does not really fit me at all (of course, none of them are a great fit). It seems to be the default if you don't really fit any of Law's other categories and like RPGing with your friends.

I think that may be a feature, not a bug.  Part of Laws' take on styles is that the GM can cater to them all in the same game and thus people can express multiple preferences, rather that treating them as inherently conflicting where you can pick only one.  Yes, I do think that there are cases where styles wind up in opposition to each other but that's not the focus of this model but is a hallmark of the more contentious models (GDS and GNS).
