This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anyone buying into the next console generation?

I'll probably wait a bit and grab a Wii U (I've always been a Nintendo kid).

Other than that I intend to remain part of the glorious PC master race.

I preordered the PS4 (I have an Xbox 360 now) because microsoft pissed me off so much.  However, I will probably sell it on ebay because I really don't need to play any games for 6 months or so.  So why not double my money?
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

I really wanted to like Sony but every time I've tried to give them money they won't take it. There is only so much docking around with PSN that I'm willing to do.

I currently have a X-box 360 that is mostly a Netflix and LEGO game box.

I have a pretty huge stack of 360 games I've yet to even touch, and an even bigger list of stuff I want to play after I score a PS3 so it'll be at least two years and maybe more before I go next gen.

When I do, based on how I feel right now, it'll be PS4. And with hindsight I should have stuck with Sony but my friends all bought 360's so I did the same. But not this time.

Trying to convince myself to get a PS4 but so far, meh. If I get one it will be mostly for any new metal gear games and maybe the upcoming UFC game.  These days though I am moving more back to my PC roots and considering just saving up to build a mid tier gaming PC.

It's a good idea

For the moment I'm sticking with my PC.  Of course, not having a HD television right now is helping me shake my interest in the next gen consoles.

I've always been a PC guy, but most of the people I would game online with use consoles.  And sometimes I prefer the console over the PC because I like to kick back on my couch with a controller and play on a 60" TV.  Can't do that with a PC unless I invest even more money and time into it.

I've got an Ouya, that's enough for me...(well that and a PC)

FaerieGodfather

I'm just waiting for the Next Gen consoles to hit it big so that the prices on current-gen will drop.

Not got a TV so gonna stick with my Pc and enjoy all those D&D rpg's and such that i've been meaning to play but never got around to, alongside seeing what skyrim looks like with some of those environment mods i've heard about.

If i get a Tv again down the line i may grab a Ps4 and see whats out jrpg wise but atm i'm not that bothered.

I got a WiiU a week ago and hoping to get a PS4 later.  WiiU for the Nintendo IP while PS4 for Dark Souls 2, Bloodborne, and a certain indie game that is coming out that is like a 2D souls game.

I don't plan on getting a PS4.  Then again, last summer I had no intention of buying a PS Vita, yet in the past month I've bought a Vita and a PS TV.  So, I might get a PS4 if something particularly attractive gets published for it, or if it hits a critical mass of games I'm somewhat interested in (like the Vita).

I have no interest in "Triple A" titles, though.  So, it's pretty much turn based RPGs and SHMUPS which will convince me to buy.  Maybe some 2D fighters could lure me in.

I don't think I'd buy a Wii U, but I could be tempted if it were really cheap.  I'd like to play Hyrule Warriors.  I'm a sucker for Dynasty Warriors games.  Beyond that, the Wii U looks like it would see less use than the Wii that sits in my closet.

I don't think I'll ever buy a Xbox One.  The only thing that will change my mind there is if something miraculous comes out for it that simply can't be missed under any circumstance.  I don't see anything close to that ever happening.  There's basically nothing appealing for it now, and I don't see anything in upcoming games lists worth paying any attention to either.

I don't really play consoles very much.
I DID buy a Wii, many years ago, but that was mostly for my kids, who were very young at the time and the Wii is very kid friendly.
We still have that actually and I use Wii fit and stuff sometimes. The kids don't use it anymore.

Before that I got a PS2 for free and some free games with it. someone I knew was gonna chuck it out so I took it. It was kind of fun, but I'm glad I didn't actually pay for the console and the games.

And before that was a PS1, which I actually bought and I loved the PS1 at the time as I was on the move a lot and the PS1 is very portable.

I don't really see the point in buying a console nowadays. The games are expensive and getting locked into a format like that with the limited capabilities of consoles.
Well, why bother when you can get a PC that does so much more and games are really cheap on Steam and GoG etc.

To be fair I have bought over many years most iterations of the Gameboy handheld consoles.
I also got the DS Lite, which was an amazing handheld and I used it for many years.
Nowadays I don't bother with dedicated handheld consoles, as I just use an android tablet or my android phone, which has LOTS of games available for it.
