This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Let´s play!

Who has some spare time on his hands in the next week?

EDIT: seems one has to pay some money to join the club. It´s cheaper than WoW and available in increments. I´m seriously interested.

Oh wow. That does look cool.

However, a) I'm only beginning to get sucked into minis wargames now... I'm mulling over what DBA army to get as we speak, and in which scale (very contentious issue apparently, I feel strangely attracted to 6mm, the pariah's own scale--will post some discussion links once I'm back, re. "Figure scale = terrain scale, yes or no?" etc.)

b) I'm currently in Europe and busy, alas. Elliot is away also, though he may have more time than I do.

But I'll look into it in the new year. Meanwhile, what do you think is superior for historical battles: DBx, Warhammer: Ancients, those other Warhammer rules ("Ancient Battles"?), something else?

a) In Berlin it´s easy, as the "walk into Gamer´s HQ and find opponent immeadeately"-scale is 15mm; 25mm being a close second.
Army choice might be influenced by some thoughts here:

b) I see.

implicit c) What do you mean with "historical battles"? DBA surely is not for REALLY recreating historic battles, it´s way more "gamey".
DBM, I could see that.

Yes indeed. And the guy has a couple of rants on his website re. utter superiority of 6mm.

Then again, 6mm is bloody tiny.

re. c): no, "gamey" is just fine. I'm looking for the funnest historical rules, not the most accurate simulation.
