This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So, I'm looking at buying a Verizon smartphone mainly for downtime at work where they have blocked access to every decent website out there - anyone have any experience with the Motorola Droid - specifically, are the games really cool?  I'm considering getting an el-cheapo phone and buying a PSP, but I like the thought of being able to play games and access the internet too.

I don't have the Droid..but I do have an Android phone (the HTC Hero).
There's some good time wasters, but Android doesn't quite have the AAA game developer support the iPhone has. It does, however, have some awesome emulators (of you're into that sort of thing).

Websurfing, Social Networking and all kinds of timewasters are a cinch on Android.

Some good games on the Droid:

RoboDefense - Tower Defense, with robots. Uses the touch screen well.

Parrallel Kingdoms - Uses Google Maps and GPS and overlays monsters,  user created cities and forts. You can claim virtual territory in the real world. Pretty fun, but a big time sink and battery killer.

So, there you go. Hope that helps.

I would recommend a DSi over a PSP though. Definitely a better library of games. The DSi has much better internet support then the older DS. It does quite a few things cell phones do too (has a built in camera, can upload to facebook, can double as an MP3 [AAC actually] player, web surfing)

Thanks krakajak.  I ended up going with the Droid (I'm on it right now!).  Found two great games - Armageddon Attack (WW II planes) and Slimeball speedway
Slimeball is extremely simple but extremely addictive.  You basically play a blob that gets bigger as you eat things.  I think it only works for the Droid tho.

Thanks!

I have Slimeball on my hero, it's pretty fun. I like it a lot better than that Cow game.
