Title: Pathfinder card game
Post by: Ladybird on August 14, 2014, 11:29:26 AM
So Obsidian are apparently doing a version of the Pathfinder deckbuilder for tablets. How is the cardboard of this game? Is it any good? Anyone play it, anyone a fan of it?

I've played it. There are lots of card types and card stacks...set up is a bit of a drag.

Although a read of the rules might lead one to think the game is complicated, playing the game itself is fairly simple. Turn over a card, bash the card, next turn.

It is fun, especially with a group of players, but a little limited. It's totally worth playing a few times, but I'd buy it only if the price is right.

I strongly disliked it. It's one of those games where there's a lot of process to obscure the fact that you have few genuine choices. That's okay if the game generates a fun narrative, but the Pathfinder card game doesn't even do that - it's very generic.

However, it's light, easy to teach, and has a D&D theme. So it's very popular.
