This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

MW3 (spoilers - fair warning!)

there are no bots, unless you count the inhuman addicts that comprise the player base. The only option is regular play. There isn't even any skill based matchmaking ffs so be very warned.

Kill streaks. I mean, who the hell thought that one up? It's an admission that:

1. Your game design supports "runaway leaders". Which is fine, unless...
2. Your default matches are too long.

It's a cheap bandage on poor game mechanics. If you have to include a feature in your default game design that rewards winning players by letting them stop playing sooner, then there is something wrong with your game mechanics.

Ya'll sound like a bunch of sore losers. First off, the kill streaks don't do shit. You can make yourself invisible to them and if you take a missile as a starting weapon, you can shoot them down. Kill streaks usually count for maybe 15% of the kills of a GOOD player. The most useful killstreak in the game is the UAV, which displays enemies on the minimap, and you only need 2-3 kills to get that. To help people that can't shoot, capturing flags now counts as kills for getting it.

If you absolutely cannot shoot and cannot camp with a n00b tube (they put them in for a reason) then you can shoot down enemy air support and help your team capture flags. After a while, you can maybe even get good enough to try other things.

People that can't play MW3 and have a 1.00 K/D are about half of the people that play the game. People that can't find ways to support their team and have fun are simply not fucking trying.

Quote from: Spinachcat;489212Does MW3 have an option of bots of varying difficulty levels?

I wish MW3 did. Truthfully, I haven't looked for it. Black Ops has it though and in it, the bots are really fun.

Are we seriously complaining about the plot and the fact that the single player campaign is an afterthought in a console-based first person shooter?

Hey, you know what?  The latest Final Fantasy game is just a really pretty C&O problem.  Man, what's up with that?
D&D is becoming Self-Referential.  It is no longer Setting Referential, where it takes references outside of itself. It is becoming like Ouroboros in its self-gleaning for tropes, no longer attached, let alone needing outside context.

I wouldn't buy CoD:2G1C either, but I can't be surprised when a game about fighting terrorists involves acts of terrorism in the cut scenes.

Well exactly. I had hoped they were addressing this, based on their preamble, certainly more than they actually have.
It's a shame.

It doesn't surprise me. That isn't the point i'm making.

I prestiged today. Feeling pretty awesome.

I wasn't going to do it, especially since it let me start with 7 custom class slots as a reward for having prestiged in earlier games, but they added the feature that you can select a benefit for gaining prestige. It let me keep the MK14 rifle you unlock at 60th level. Basically one option is to forever start with a piece of equipment you like. So I'm level 5 but have the level 60 gun.

Awesome.

Interesting point: the stat tracker on Elite pointed out that the MK14 doesn't just feel better to me - I actually do better with it than some other guns I thought of as better.

Ghost Whistler

I've always found the stats/description of the weapons is completely contrary to the way they play.

I agree to a point. The light machine guns are terrible unless you are in hardcore.

I just got to the chemical bombing scene. Talk about much to do about nothing. They really put the kids gloves on for this game.

Ghost Whistler

Given that 90% of it's market is kids that's not too surprising.
