This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I saw an ad for this the other day on G4 and read its supposed to be a GTA style game.  Does anyone know if its worth buying new or waiting a month or two and picking it up in the bargain bin?

No doubt about it, Saints Row 2 is a GTA clone but a good one.  I haven't played it a whole lot yet but I can tell it's more a throwback in style to the earlier, more tongue-in-cheek GTA games (GTAIII and Vice City) than the later, relatively serious San Andreas and GTAIV editions of the game.  Missions are fairly one-dimensional, run-n-gun affairs but there's a lot more side-missions you can do.

I always recommend buying games second-hand but if you're itching for some GTA action RIGHT NOW or have some gift cards to burn, buying fresh off the shelf won't be a mistake.

I normally buy my games used, but I am pretty much bored with my PS3 library having either finished or got bored and walked away from a title.

Thanks for the info

Ghost Whistler

Saints ROw is what gta should have been, instead of an austere, spartan and rather joyless affair.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.
