This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Transformers was fun, but the game is not well made or balanced. The matchmaking was dreadful. Melee is way too powerful and the scrapmaker is just plain broken.

i prefer the cod model; pick a loadout and team based modes to random map based weapon spawns. Halo is too old school for me. I hate the high jumping as well.

No they aren't. Melee only does about as much damage as two bullets. If two soldiers start firing at one another, one with the scrap maker and one with the neutron assault rifle, the one with the assault rifle wins.

If you see someone with a scrap maker at medium range, you can just run from them because the soldier can't chase. Then hit him from a different angle.

Their is a lot of problems with the match making, it is buggy, but your complaints about balance are unfair.

When i see the same tactic used ad infinitum, in any game, I know something is wrong.

It is always the same, point and shoot.

Snipe with a long range gun.

Run with a small gun.

Camp with a high damage gun.

I've never seen anything else.

At least with Transformers WFC, the speed that people move and the necessity of being in a mob to fight makes camping almost impossible.

transformers isn't a bad game, don't get me wrong. It's just not a very good game and doesn't have as much long term appeal as I would liek. There isn't much to unlock and the high rank stuff really is much better than the low. All i can say is that if you don't get tired of random teams (after all you can't choose the classes for your teammates), scrapmakers and that haymaker ability then you're a better player than i. But the icing on the cake was that there just weren't enough players. Activision really are a joke; the game was overpriced on release and not supported - end result no players online.

What really bugs me about online gaming though is the lack of options for different skill levels. I've said it before; as a paying XBL player I want to be matched not against screaming racist kids who spend their lives glued to MW2 along with all the cheats and hackers (so...many...glitches), but with peopel I can at least have a fighting chance of playing with, commensurate to my (hoepfully rising) skill level. I just don't get why it always has to be HARDCORE, and that anyone that speaks out is insulted and shouted down by people whose social skills would embarass a serial killer.

it's enough to make me think about giving up on console online gaming, and that's sad.

I've devoted enough time to shooters now that I can hold my own with racist screaming hackers. There just isn't enough time in the day to do that for more than one game type. I've pretty much totally quit fighting games, even though I used to love Soul Caliber and Virtual Fighter. People become too oddly good playing on line for me to have a chance.

I've played one or two games with lobbies for new players, but there is always some jack off that made a new account so he can go in there and clean up. I agree with you, I just don't know how they would pull it off.

I don't know, but then I'm not being paid to know :D

I'm sure it can't be beyond the wit of man. But it's ridiculous, playing cod online is like pitting amateur football players against the world cup champions by virtue of including all the worlds football players, professional or otherwise, in one single league. Yet in gaming this is seen as perfectly right and proper. I think it's nuts. In some games it's not an issue, but because of the killstreak mechanism (and because the killstreak mechanism used for mw2 is gonzo doo dah bananas apeshit) it is in modern warfare 2.

I gave up streetfighter (ironically for mw2). I found it just absurd and of course the online was the usual competitive bollocks - i've never understood the need for a system to actually take points away from people for losing. It's a game! Just let me have my fun. Certainly don't reward me for losiong, but taking points away? That's just churlish!
