This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: joewolzI'm in an incredible shrinking minority.  I've never played an MMORPG.

I've played Diablo on single player.  I played Warcraft 2 with other people, and I played Wolfenstein 3d once online.

That's it for online gaming for me, and I haven't done it since Wolfenstein 3d came out...so it's been a few years.

Alternatively, I play tabletop RPGs once a week (a steady Vampire game) seasoned with minis on Thursdays and today for a special treat I'm going to the game store for a pick game of something.  Hopefully C&C, but maybe InSpectres.

Yeah, I know there are people out there who don't enjoy MMORPGS.

The problem is I find it hard to get together a regular group.  I may be joining a online game which will be nice, but with the gamer pool shrinking getting a regular group together in many parts of the world is not easy.

Right now neither, I had to give up the 3 campaigns I was playing due to a lack of time, and the only MMO that I've been playing lately is Lineage, wich I uninstalled today.

Unfortunately, in the location I am (Huntington, WV), I haven't found a RPG group since I moved down here, nearly 3 years ago.  All I have is MMORPG.

It's a shame, too, I really miss tabletop gaming.

Still playing WOW more than any tabletop game.  There's more focus, a tighter group discipline, and we're focusing more on instances as the core of my guild is now in the early-to-middle 40s; we're also paying more attention to honing trade skills, so we'll be better able to gear-up alts and new recruits.  Still need to get our top paladin into our Vent server though.

Quote from: StreamweaverI see MMOs and tabletop RPGs as two completely different things even if one was inspired out of the other.

As for time spent I was going to say more raw time spent with MMOs but if you include prep time for my game or so it would really have to depend on the week.

I have good luck with tabletop groups, a close group of friends who enjoy each others company and playing together.  I've not had as much luck with MMOs.

What is it they say?  Quoted for truth?

Yeah, that.  That pretty much lays out my opinion on the matter.  Especially with the prep time comment.
