This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Remember HeroQuest?

Well, there's a fellow who built a JAVA game out of it:

Ill dig out a link for a Space Hulk/Space Crusade boardgame conversion later.

I'd love to see a Talisman or 1st/2nd Edition version of Bloodbowl.

I've seen the awesome Formula De conversion and the Dune boardgame, both of which are stunning.

I have the old brown box, along with the Death Zone expansion and the Skaven Scramblers from White Dwarf magazine, but boy the setting up is a massive overhead.

How is the gameplay on HeroQuest?

Is there an AI of any sort or is it 2 player?

Must have been a critical failure :(

If you will excuse the minor derail, I've enjoyed playing another MB classic online.  Anyone remember the Dark Tower board game?  Unfortunately, it is only one player so I don't know that it is a great simulation of the game.  But for capturing the nostalgia and getting to see that amazing artwork again, you may enjoy checking it out:

This link takes you directly to the game load-up:

If you prefer to browse the fan site, read the rules and check out the artwork, here it is:

Hope you enjoy.

I'm playing the game right now, and I don't have this problem. Make sure you have the latest version of JAVA, Tommy. Needs to be at least JAVA 6. Maybe that's where the problem comes from. Or your RAM got swamped.

Hm, that must have been it.  Thanks!  One more time killer...=)

The only downside is that I know these damned quests almost by heart now...=)

http://www.bloodbowl-game.com/  PC and shitty console version.

Pretty soon they are coming out with Legendary Edition with almost every official team.  (They took Chaos Dwarves out because GW are cunts.)

I've got the Dark Elves edition PC game.  Its pretty damned good.  Blood Bowl any time of the day, with multiplayer if you want it.  I eagerly await the new version.  It'll be the difference between playing Lego Rock Band with just songs on the disk, or buying a bunch of downloads for it.  Same great game, less seeing the same stuff.  Since 20 teams is more variety than 9.

Oh, and there is a better fan made Space Hulk port that GW made them shut down.  (Which then got turned into "Alien Assault".  Same gameplay different graphics and missions.  However its pretty easy to find the Space Hulk version even if its got a few niggles AA doesn't wink wink nudge nudge.)

Danger

Nice!

Thanks for the linkages, folks!

p.s.  ...and you also got me looking for an online version of Dungeonquest

p.p.s. Aha! http://superluminal.byethost9.com/dungeonquestV314/index.html
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

Thank you!!!

I played this once decades ago and forgot about it.  How cool.  Makes me want to run an OD&D campaign based on it.

So I played this with my son today, me as the demihumans and him as the humans (his choice).

Yeah, we got our butts handed to us, but it was mostly because I was following his lead (hey, kid's gotta learn how to explore a dungeon sometime) with sage advice here and there...but we started off with the dwarf and wizard going one way and the elf and barbarian going the other...it got ugly...=P
