Looks like Roboute Guilliman is woke up.

I don't play anymore, cause shit it too expensive, but this should be interesting from a lore perspective.

Yes. Yes it is.

If it does result in a de-CatholicSpaceNazification of the Imperium, one can only imagine the tsunami of nerdrage that'll tear at the very fabric of the intarwebs.

They can always set their games somewhere in the countless centuries between the Horus Heresy and this event.

But I seriously doubt this will change that much of the setting. He'll probably be ground down under the boot of grimdark. Business as usual.

My guess is it's going to be civil war between the Imperium and Ultramar. They're strong enough to put up a serious fight. Plus being led by a Primarch. And the Imperium is notorious for having far too much shit going on to focus the whole of their might on one issue. They can't even crush the Tau!

Holy Shit.  Guilliman being pissed is an Epic understatement.

Civil War!   Who's going to play Ironman to Guilliman's Cap?

Will Cypher ever get to where he's going?
Will Russ return heralding the Wolftime?
Will Guilliman be sane?
Is this some Chaos Plot?
Will Sigmar appear on his Sigmarite Comet, fulfilling the prophecy of the Star Child and unite the IPs again?

Could be a great time to be a 40k fan.  It could also trump Age of Sigmar for abject stupidity if done wrong.

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Definitely looking forward to the novels.

It won't affect the overall grimdark because the 40k-verse is incredibly massive with an untold number of worlds. Even if Ultramar "wins" and becomes the core of the "new" Imperium, the changes would take another 1000 years (maybe 10,000) to completely reform the place...if it can survive the external and internal threats AND a civil war within.

We'll finally have an actual reason to fight Astartes vs. Astartes on the tabletop...The Guilliman Heresy!

Guilliman pulls the plug on the Emperor, Terra is destroyed by the resulting warpgasm which feeds on the belief of the Emperor to create a fifth Chaos God or even worse, a God of Stasis and Undeath.  Guilliman goes back to Ultramar to await the rebirth of the Emperor and the Last Crusade as the Orks, Tyranids and Necrons begin the Battle Royale for the Universe while the Eldar join the Dark Eldar in the Webway and get the fuck out of dodge while the Tau realize the Greater Good is served by bowing down to Guilliman and joining Imperial Ultramar along with the Squats, who realize someone sane is back in charge, so fire up their asteroid ships where they've been hiding since Rogue Trader.

Fun.

Just saw some of the new minis, I liked the Forgeworld Guilliman better.  There's a new Cypher mini too, so maybe we'll finally find out what the hell he's been doing for the last 15 years.

Me? I think he woke up because PETA was just one threat too many for the Imperium.....
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

If you want to rejoin 40k, you can get minis 50% to 75% off on eBay. I've repeatedly bought painted armies for half the cost of the unpainted minis.

Weren't most off the subsequent foundings based on the Ultramarines geneseed?  The lion's share off the astartes could revolt.

They could. Then again, many of them might side with the Imperium because "It's a warp clone, Guilliman is corrupted, FOR THE EMPRAH!" etc, etc...
For game's sake, I could see a split down the middle. So we get the most mileage out of the situation wargame-wise.

Eh. I do like to assemble and paint my own minis. And I'd want to buy the newest rules and codex, and that's a huge chunk of money right there.

Current spoilers suggest Cypher will kill Abbadon in Emperor's throne room.

It's hard to say whether this is usual GW IP unification and trademark renaming (the Eldars already got it), or Age of Emperor is on it's way for 40k.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

My dream scenario would be that they adopt the continuity from What if the Emperor Had a Text-To-Speech Device?
