so it looks like there will soon be a new ethics clusterfuck but this time for the art on magic cards
im still not entirely sure whats happened yet all i can tell is this time theres no way in hell theres auctualy anything unethical going on and the gist of it is that some woman is sleeping with the art directer so some idiots are claiming her art is only being chosen for that reason
nevermind that she has been making that art since before that art directer was even employed there
more info as i learn more
artists name is Rebecca Guay
Where are you getting this from?
And why do I get the feeling that you're intentionally trying to stir up a new ethics clusterfuck?

Who gives a fuck? her art is really good so i have zero idea why it matters who she's banging unless she decides to start using it as art for a future magic set.
Who cares?
Trollbait.
Yeah, pretty irrelevant, and compared to other WotC antics with artists, very small potatoes.
my internet connection shat itself on me last night but here

Maybe got a bit more trustworthy news source? Fox News'll do.
hey i never said it was a news source it seems to me that this is where its starting
i ignored gamergate and had a hell of a time making sense of it once it settled down im not making that mistake this time
which is why my internet connection fucking up is so annoying i had to leave the conversation sure it eventually turned to art discussion in typical /tg/ style but still
It's /tg/ rumourmill/butthurt that Someone Likes And Pays For Things I Don't Like (MOOOOOOM!).
Gamergate had started when informations leaked out from a former boyfriend of Zoe, a person who somewhat had access to confidential informations about her lifestyle and actions, and really picked up the pace when the mailing list of game journalist was leaked. It had some legitimate news sources and informants driving it. Here we have...what exactly? She's been doing illustrators for Magic since at least Mirage (as I saw somewhere her card from that block), which was released in 1996. Either she's in a really long sexual game here, or maybe, just maybe, she was actually hired based on talent/skill/ability to keep deadlines? Rob Liefield wasn't ever accused of being a catamite to get a job at Marvel, and I'd say he's way more suspicious, based on comparison between these two drawing styles.
So yes, sorry, but I don't think NBC'll be interviewing you anytime soon as Typo1, the man/woman who started Magicgate.
what no you misunderstand i dont think theres anything suspicious going on here i agree its just buthurt i just want to keep my eye on it because of simple curiosity.
So what we have is a picture of Rebecca Guay at a con standing next to a WOTC art director, presumably?, smiling, and some idiot teenager on a random message board making a tasteless joke.
And that has what to do with Gamergate?
Gamergate ostensibly started when Zoey Quinn's ex threw himself an online pity party and a bunch of people noticed that some of the guys Zoey apparently had sexes with were people who wrote gaming reviews, and a bunch of people decided to slutshame Zoey (because everything a bitter guy says online about their ex has to be true, that's like rule 5 of the internet or something) and a bunch of other people simultaneously started going "hey, that's like a serious breach of journalist ethics!" (because apparently sometime after Nintendo Power was a thing videogame reviews became "journalism"). And just like a broken clock is right twice a day, people did some digging and found out "hoy shit! there's totally tons of so-called game reviewers that are all mildly "corrupt" in the most meaningless of ways", and instead of just ignoring this little internet flare-up, these bunches of gaming "journalists" all get freaked out and panic and decide to bring the stupid: they as a group decide to unleash a bunch of articles declaring gamers "dead" because they somehow think their audience is now the mass population or something because videogames are selling really well these days. And thats when the gamers went apeshit.
And thats how gamergate got started.
Long story short: stop trolling.

i think the similarities are enough that it can deserve the name hell consultantgate got the moniker and that deserved it far less then this.
im not sure why you are so convinced im trolling
There are no similarities.
Even if this completely unsubstantiated rumour-mongering youre propitiating was true, it in no way affects Magic players in the slightest. It doesnt alter the game, it doesnt have anything to do with reviews, journalism, or public information about the game, it has nothing to do with a feminist agenda or SJWs attacking ccgs, its not even a conflict of interest. This is you trying to start something from nothing. Hence, trolling.
im not trying to start anything i just thought other people might be curious
i never really claimed it was related to gamergate that much anyway i mentioned failing to follow it as an example because it was a recent major thing like i said its just me being curious of whats going on.
Her art is great. Reminds me of Mucha. However she does look a bit like a bloke. Maybe the art director had to sleep with her as a prerequisite to getting her to do art for magic cards.

Yeah, I've liked her art for years. Which makes me think she may just look " good for her age", because I remember her illustrations in books when I was a child, and I'm no spring chicken.

Because of practically every post you make?
I don't normally say this kind of thing on a forum, but I'm tired of your shitty posts, your shitty lack of punctuation, your shitty trolling and your shitty avatar. Ignore list ahoy!

Not all his posts are shitty, but I do resent his constant spelling and punctuation mistakes. A few here and there ok, we're human, but what he does is just slovenly.
love her art!
