This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Benoist;530194Trying to fix my DirectX right now.

Try updating the drivers if that won't help. Just remember to uninstall them first.

.DLL errors are quite often a mark that your machine might not be good enough to run the game, I am afraid :(.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

The Direct X update did it. I can run the game now. :)

I have played the first level and it runs great. My minotaur warrior is now level 2. Man, it looks great :)
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

Liking it so far.  It's nice to play a dungeon-crawler that allows a bit more problem solving, since a lot others tend to devolve into pinging enemies until one of you drops (like the Etrian Odyssey games).
"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."

This! And the rest :)
Loving the puzzles and the freaky stuff when you sleep.

Diseased effect is a pain in the arse but cool too :)

Slowly making my way down the levels, it is still awesomes.

Doom

I do wish there was a 'no real time' option....the whole point I got the thing is it looked turn-based so I could play it on my laptop. I get the feeling once the fights start getting intense I won't be able to control 4 characters simultaneously with enough speed to be amusing.

A nice education blog.

Melan

I do not think it was ever implied to be turn-based.

Nope, never. Also, I want to publicly state my eternal hate for those FUCKING UNDEAD LEGIONNAIRES.

It's always been real-time; if you can't cope with the combat, set it to easy. That's what the difficulty setting is there for. The main thing with combat, so far, seems to be making sure you're agile enough to avoid counterhits; if you're used to WASD-style controls, though, you should be fine.

Anyway, liking it so far. I got to the Skeleton with the default party and got murdered, then read some threads on the developer forum, revised my tactics, started an all-human party, and started again; I've got to the cells on level 2 now.
