This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Kinect vs Players

Ghost Whistler

Is the release of the Kinect responsible for the shoddy quality of recent big name game releases (specifically, Fallout New Vegas and the reportedly hopeless bugged Fable 3)?
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

I think the bugs in FNV are likely simply a result of it being by Obsidian Entertainment, who have never knowingly released a game in an actual finished state.

But more generally I can't see how there's likely to be any connection. Kinect hasn't really resulted in huge numbers of new titles coming out, so it's not like Microsoft's QA teams are likely to have been stretched.

These projects have nothing to do with one another.

Yeah, I don't see the correlation.

Whatever Ghost Whistler is smoking, I'm not sure I want some! :D

I want to know why games are being rushed to market right now. Consequenlty they are suffering for it.

Because the more product you shovel out, the more you sell. The marketing matters more than the particulars of the game.

Everyone wants to be the next big game on the market which means meeting stupid release dates so you dont get burried when the current big games release sequals(call of duty black ops and cataclysm are 2 good examples of big sequals) also share holders are fickle bitches when it comes to anything but making money.

Right now?

Did you just recently by a console?  Developers have been using the buying public as beta-testers for a long time, Bucko :).

If it worries you so much, don't early adopt, wait a few months until its patched.  Maybe you'll save some money as the price drops, too.

But it seems worse these days. I would say this is the worst year for the 360 by far.

the development of hardware and software for the XBox 360 are not related.
