This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Glorantha with Apocalyse World ?

Whats the most practical/simpler way to use AW in Glorantha ?

My group is brewing some adventuring ideas right now and we´re flirting with AW because of its simplicity and speed of play (two factors very important, since all the group is adults with family). It doesnt need to be too elaborate or complex. In fact, we thought about a simple premise of the adventures of a little clan in Dragon Pass striving for greatness and booze.

The most practical way for this that I could think of, is simply translating the default playbooks directly to Glorantha equivalents, more or less like this:

The Angel = Chalana Arroy Healer
The Hardholder = Orlanth Clan Chief
The Battlebabe = Vingan Fyrdwoman
The Gunlugger = Humakt Weaponthane
The Operator = Issaries Merchant
The Brainer = Lhankor Mhy Lawspeaker
The Skinner = Eurmal Skald
etc.

What you think ? Any help is apreciated. ;)

No, that's rubbish; the Apocalypse World archetypes are optimised for living in their world, and reskinning just wouldn't have the same effect. You'd get a much better game by rebuilding your archetypes and character stats again from scratch.

The way you were thinking of doing it a year ago, basically...
one two FUCK YOU

Yeah, but that way is too much work. :D

Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Have you tried HeroQuest? It's a narrative game system designed to fit Glorantha, and could be what you are in fact searching for. I would check it out if I were you, silva.

Wow, awesome music. Thanks for pointing out.

Yup. Didnt like it much. Too flavorless, I think.

Besides it, I think AW "community-driven" playbooks fit beautifully with King of Dragon Pass. ;)
