This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Fritzs;237486LOL! Fucking otaku spotted! And I was refering to you and your coment about unimportance of fun innovative rules... well, when you remove this from game like Anima: shadow of omega only that remains is Munchkin/magic ripoff with pretty pictures...
Honestly, dude...what the fuck? Why are you pissing all over the thread? Jong brings up a game that he thinks looks really cool, and you....you what? Act like a  dick for shits and giggles? Get the fuck over yourself.

Sacrificial Lamb: I commented, that this game looks like Munchkin with anime pictures (nothing wrong with that) and Jong attacked me with shit about innovations. So he pissed me off a little...
You ARE the enemy. You are not from "our ranks". You never were. You and the filth that are like you have never had any sincere interest in doing right by this hobby. You\'re here to aggrandize your own undeserved egos, and you don\'t give a fuck if you destroy gaming to do it.

Quote from: JongWK;237448It seems the RPG was released during this Gencon. Some people at TBP said they had it.

Dude! Awesome! Thanks! I wonder if it's in at my FLGS...

I have this.  I definitely can't say much good about it.

Gameplay is extremely random, about as random as Snakes & Ladders.  The game has a very large tendency to kill starting characters before anything can get going.  Players wanting to stall can easily make the game last forever, and it takes an incredibly long time anyway.  Not to mention it's amazingly overcomplicated for what it is.

Oh, and the rulebook is just...  Jong, good luck figuring it out.  It took me several read throughs.  And it took me several abortive test games before I had even the faintest idea how things were  supposed to work.

Two players, three players, four players... nothing helped this one.  It has pretty art on a few cards, but not that jaw dropping.  Beyond that, it was just disappointing and depressing.

I've read the rulebook, and it didn't seem confusing to me (YMMV, of course). Will try to play it this weekend so I can start writing a decent review.

Reading throught them, I had no problem.  The issue was actual play.  I found the rules didn't clearly describe the order and flow of the actual act of playing.  At every step, my players and I found ourselves confused about what to do.  When we did finally figure everything out, it didn't feel like our role was so much playing as rolling the die and drawing cards so the game could play itself.

I do hope you have a better experience with it.  But for me it was part of a double whammy of bad card game purchases in a row (the other one was the Robotech CCG).

I'm pretty sure I have the model version of the game, but haven't actually played it. It seemed pretty sensible in the rules department though...

... I haven't played it because I'm YEARS behind on painting, still haven't tried AT-43 and between Warmachine and 40k I'm gamed the fuck out....
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Ok, I've played the game with 2, 3, and 4 players. I still need to try it with the maximum 5, but so far the game plays remarkably different depending on the number of players. In any case, we all had a blast playing it. :)

I'll see if I can write a review this weekend.
