This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

GoW 3 MP is NOT "accessible"...

OK, I liked the first GoW MP well enough, but the non-dedicated servers ruined it. So, I never got into GOW 2 MP. Now, "Cliffy B" rants and raves that GOW 3 will be more accessible than the others, allowing casual players to have fun.

Simply not true. I'm pretty good at GOW and I have to say that if you're not an uber-fan or whatever, it's not fun. You just die. The base weapons (barring the shotgun) are utterly useless, which is something I can't stand. Don't make me run around the map to find some gun so I can actually compete. Let me tear shit up with what I have.

And as awesome as it is to have a well-oiled team, you're fucked if you don't have one. You should have some chance on your own. Yes, as a team you should do better, but it shouldn't be necessary.

That's one thing where...despite all the flaws...CoD shines: You can pimp-out a gun and do well with it. You're not, "Oh shit! Oh shit! We didn't rush and get Gun X! We're screwed!".

Anyway, that's my rant.

On the upside, I love the story. They did an amazing job with the pathos and it's refreshing to see muscle-bound "Space Marines" with humanity. Both 2 & 3 have tear-jerkier moments, something not usually found in a "manly shooter". Very cool.

P.S. Oh yes! Thank you Xbox/Epic for totally fucking me out of all the swag I was supposed to get for participating in the Beta. You're great.

I have to disagree with you on the grounds that while GoW 3 MP is a bit low on MPMPA 5 DSS, it's also rather intensive in terms of GH 34 B#5 and has an extremely low-amperage support nook for Malaysian FF3 FF4 - DA.

In other words, please have the common courtesy of not using obscure acronyms which will make your post illegible for people who can't read your mind. :huhsign:
Obvious troll is obvious. RIP, Bill.

While normally I'm not a fan of the acronym barrage the post was pretty clear to anyone with some common knowledge of video games GoW = Gears of War, MP = MultiPlayer, CoD = Call of Duty.  Fairly common video game parlay.

I haven't played the competitie MP yet. I did surprisingly well in the beta. But i've never been a fan of map based weapon spawns and the mulcher on thrashball was awful. I also have come to hate sniper waepons in online gaming full stop.

I have now started playing the MP portion (as opposed to horde) and I agree with the OP.

It's the same old same old. It feels totally random as to whether guns will win or not. I can fire at someone and only wound them while they fire back, same distance same weapon, and I go down. This happens repeatedly. It's just the most frustrating thing (as is the longshot which doesn't belong in the game whatsoever).

part of this is down to the usual XBL 'pro playa' bullshit which i would happily pay to expunge with extreme sanction. But part of it has to be put on the game: the sawn off is utterly broken - so everyone uses it.

Even though there are improvements over the last game, which was a complete turd, the game still has the same issues it's always had. The shotgun is just too dominant. When you factor in the tooth grindingly hardocre attitude that dominates XBL it's full speed ahead to frustration and it simply shouldn'e be because there is a fun game within.

And the dedicated servers are, apparently, only for ranked. Unfortuinately ranked has dismal matchmaking though there's a possibility that if there's space quick matches can be hosted on server as well. I can't verify this, but it does explain a few things. Latency is still certainly a factor.
