Has anyone else played Katawa Shoujo? I'd heard of it, but pretty much blew it off. Last week I was bored so I downloaded it. It's free, so I figured what the heck? It's just a graphical choose-your-own-adventure, set in a high school for disabled kids (though all of the main characters are seniors and 18+).

Wow. It's a fantastic game. I've had some relationship problems recently, so it likely wasn't the best time for me to get into this. Some of the storylines are really uplifting, but some of them are a serious kick in the nuts. In any case, if you haven't played through this, I really recommend it.

The game is adult, though there is a sex-scene free version. It's very definitely NOT hentai, though. Most of the sex scenes are really just continuations of what would happen in a real relationship (though one or two are pretty much unnecessary).

Right, it's a visual novel done with the Ren'Py engine. The number of choices you even can make in the later stages also varies quite a bit depending on which route you follow, so much of the time you'll simply be clicking your way through an illustrated storyline.

It's generally considered one of the better things to come out of 4chan.
