Thread for December 2013.
My project this month will be to get my 20 shiny Stormtroopers painted.
Last month I finally bit the bullet and painted Cthuhlu. This month? Perhaps I finally take on Kaladrax...
However, much like last month, I want to do a non-traditional paint scheme (I did Cthulhu purple). Hard to do with bones, but I think there's enough hangy flesh and whatnot to do somethign other than bone and brown colors.
Oh! Maybe do some orange, red, and yellow in the recessed pits of the rib cage, to make it seem like there's a fire there?

So on eBay I managed to snag the Elf army set from Mantic's Kings of War for $30 to use as High Elves. The set came with 30 spear men, 20 archers, 20 sea guard, 10 shadows, 2 bolt throwers with crew, and a general on horseback. Damn good deal. Thing is, I'm not the biggest fan of the heads on these guys

So I headed over to Hoard of Bits and got some GW heads and some capes to offset how thin they are. Did my first tester tonight

I got several different head types, and decided I'm going with an Albion-themed army, meaning heavy Roman Britain influence. To that end I also picked up a box of War games Factory's Amazons for $15.

So my army will have quite a few women, something GW isn't very up on. The Amazon box comes with tons of extra helmets I plan to use for the other spear men and archers, I'm using shadow warrior heads for, well, my shadow warriors (above), and the sea guard I'm going to use as Phoenix Guard, or 'Raven Guard' as I'm calling them for my army, and I'm going to be giving them Dryad heads, because I thought it would be cool to represent older elves who have become a bit more tree-like.
