This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Blackmoor grew from a single Castle to include, first, several adjacent Castles (with the forces of Evil lying just off the edge of the world to an entire Northern Province of the Castle and Crusade Society's Great Kingdom.

I greatly enjoy DoW, so I'm somewhat excited for this.

However, their decision to use that buggy piece of shit Games for Windows Live for MP has me nervous.

I must confess I haven't got around to playing DOW itself yet - I've been meaning to so perhaps its something for the winter.

DoW: Dark Crusade is quite cheap on Steam, and worth checking out.  It's standalone, including all the races so far.

Pass on Soulstorm however, as it's apparently buggy as hell and not so great.  They farmed that one out to another developer who closed doors right before the game was set to release.

I haven't had any troubles with Soulstorm myself.  The only one I can compare it to is the one where they introduced the Tau and Necrons

Neither did I, but the additions they made to gameplay, like air units and the mana bar powers of the two new armies did zero to add to the fun of the game.

Tyrranids on the other hand, would have rocked mightily.

I think the Nids are unused because it is impossible to build a story arc around 'eat everything, including your own army and hit the next planet'...  never mind that one does not typically take back territory controlled by nids in the same shape it was abandoned, to a far greater extent than any other army, logically.
