This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hello! I would like to present my text game/interactive fiction. ,,Dark Reign" is a strategy text game in which the player takes on the role of a Sauron-style Lord of Darkness with the goal of conquering the world. He will carry out his plans by making various decisions. He will build his army and send it into battles, weave intrigues and deceptions, create secret spy networks and sectarian cults, recruit agents and commanders, corrupt representatives of Free Peoples and sow discord among them, collect magical artifacts and perform sinister plots. Link to download: https://www.mediafire.com/file/otp6ihqnjz0672j/Dark_Reign_1.66.html/file. This is an html file that opens in a browser, but You can play offline. Note – one game takes about 1 hour, but the premise is that the game can be approached several times, each time making different decisions, getting different results and discovering something new. Feedback is very much welcome. Very, very much.
So about challenges... I am newbie creator. I created this game using Twine editor, so I am not true programmist, but still, it helped me to learn something about coding, how to use variables etc. It was hard, but also fun, to create connections between elements of the game and the ways in which they interact with each other.
Also, itch.io version: https://adeptus7.itch.io/dark-reign (yes, it was published on itch, so please believe me, that it is not scam).

I just tried this game and I love it so much!
To be honest, I'm delighted. You are such a good fellow that you were able to do it quite beautifully. I didn't finish the whole game, but I liked the beginning.
In general, I also do a little game development, and so far what I can boast of is the daily challenge sudoku. Rate it if you are interested in playing Sudoku  ;Dby the way, it develops logic well

Adeptus

Hello! There is new version of the game. Most obvious is change of the title into "Dominion of Darkness", because I was tired about people telling me that there was RTS game called "Dark Reign" and that I should change it.
But there are also many actually important changes. There is much more content and mechanics that in the "Dark Reign" now, e.g. reworked system of magic and extendend "final conquest".

You can play current version of the game here: https://adeptus7.itch.io/dominion

BTW in the meantime some reviews of my game arrived:

Time for the update 2.70.

Some of the new things:
- extended endgame, especially for the Influence based characters - you conquered all kingdoms? Now secure your eternal rule by proving your divinity. Or, if you play as Destroyer of Live, carry out a world-scale euthanasia plan,

- new subplot - Rise of the Witchlands. Remember that fallen ancient civilization which ruins You could pillage? That is not dead which can eternal lie.

- character interaction system - I added more characters that the player can recruit as his agents/adjutants and I significantly increased their activity and the player's ability to influence them - characters discuss, argue with each other, propose new actions, neglected - they betray, they can be take them on special expeditions (RPG element), entrust them with functions, and in some cases marry them. Recruitable characters include: an elven druid who has lived and observed the cruelty of nature for so long that he has concluded that euthanasia of all life is the only solution; fallen mercenary knight; a dwarven runemaster who, to his despair, must serve the Darkness to fulfill his family oath; a young vampire lady who is constantly torn between bloodthirstiness and good manners; a dark paladin who was drawn to the side of the Darkness by a cursed blade and now serves it with as much fanaticism as the Darkness once did; a snakeman ambassador who serves the Dark Lord, but is loyal above all to her people.

- greater opportunities to corrupt Free Peoples - do you prefer humans to become bloodthirsty warriors hostile to their neighbors, or maybe on the contrary, a flock of humble sheep resigned to their fate? Is it better to play on the arrogance of the elves towards other peoples, or to play on the conflicts between the young generation and the older elves who have been blocking their access to positions for hundreds of years? Make organizations and religions your agents or manipulate existing ones.

- elemental system - in addition to choosing gender and profession, each character is now also defined by one of the 4 elements; this choice opens up new possibilities, especially in the sphere of magic, and new plot options - e.g. transform the world into your own version of the fiery "Mordor" or wake up an ancient abomination sleeping at the bottom of the sea,

- many new, optional paths to victory - e.g. collect forbidden secrets of ancient magic and perform an occult Great Work; provoke a devastating war between the Free Peoples; turn back time to win the war in the past; unleash a necromantic plague that will turn the living into the undead,

- graphics - the game is still based primarily on text, but it has been decorated with numerous graphics.

Current version of the game is available: https://adeptus7.itch.io/dominion
