Title: Anyone played Toon recently?
Post by: jhkim on December 07, 2012, 05:34:03 PM
I haven't played Greg Costikyan's Toon game in many years, and I was thinking of at least one session of it with my nephews and niece after Christmas. Has anyone played it recently?  How has it held up?

It seems like the scenarios should be updated to make for something more like modern cartoons, but aside from the art I think most parts would still fit.  (Plus the old Warner Bros cartoons are still classics the kids enjoy.)

I played it at Continuum this summer and it was as silly and enjoyable as it has ever been.

It's one of those games which throws everything you ever knew about roleplaying games out of the window.

Basically, you can't powergame, grandstand, storygame or do anything except have fun for an hour or two.

I probably couldn't play it for more than one session, to be honest, as it would probably drive me crazy. But, for one game every 10 years or so, it is a lot of fun.
