Title: Any Warmachine players?
Post by: Piestrio on September 02, 2013, 02:50:52 PM
I played Warmachine way back in the Mk.1 era and have a good sized Khador force.

Anyone still play?

I'm getting back into 40k and am looking sideways at my WM stuff. I honestly think it's a much better game but with less compelling fluff.

One of the reasons I stopped playing actually has to do with it being a better game. It's much tighter, much more focused on pulling off brilliant maneuvers and thus FAR less forgiving of mistakes and casual play.

40k you can take kind of a semi-random assortment of guys that look cool and play and while you won't win tournaments you'll have some victories and have fun.

WM unless your list and tactics are dialed in pretty tight you won't even come close to winning a game.

I've been looking at it since getting back into Warhammer recently. I am a steampunk fan, if not necessarily the biggest Mecha fan, and I do find the Cryx quite cool, if nowhere near as cool as Skaven. The skirmish/smaller model count is appealing, but I've been spoiled recently by GW's move to plastic minis, metal miniatures don't hold the same level of appeal anymore.

Never played WarmaHordes past a demo game, but the appeal of a skirmish (ie, smaller model count) game has been calling to me lately.

I dunno, I think I just need to dig out Song of Blades and Heroes and stick to small skirmishes with the models I already have for a while.

Privateer Press has gone wholly to plastic/resin.

Haven't seen those yet; the gaming store nearest me only has metal ones. Then, I'm actually quite interested.

I like Warmachine, it's one of the games the club has gotten into lately.  I have a 50 pt Cygnar force, and a 25 pt Retribution army.

I actually really enjoy it.

I'm our local pressganger and I play Mercenaries full time. We have a gang of about 8 players here.

I have played 40k before and it's no comparison really (playerwise too as we've been more careful of letting any known assholes stay in the group). Maybe not as fun competitively as Epic: Armageddon but at least someone plays Warmachine :D

I have a full metal Khadoran Behemoth. I only bought it so I could paint it!

I love metal. I see GWs boxes of plastic figures for $$$ and I cannot see how the price is justified. With metal I trick myself into thinking heavy = some kind of value. I can't do it with plastics.

I love Warmachine. I personally think Privateer Press are an infinitely better company than GW, and the game itself more fun to play than 40k. You can also choose to play Warmachine and still afford to eat and pay your bills which is great.

I have fifty points of my first army Retribution of Scyrah led by Vyros, my first army. I've recently started collecting a Cygnar force with Constance Blaize as my warcaster though. I'm not sure how she'll go in a tournament, but the great thing about Warmachine is that most lists can stand a chance. I'm currently putting together many Sword Knights and Precursor Knights.

Those warjacks look awesome.  Good work!

I love that feeling.  I found about a dozen shrink-wrapped Warhammer boxes in the storage bin that had somehow accumulated there over the last five years for both 40k and Fantasy.  I don't even remember buying some of this stuff.
