This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

LEARNING THE BASICS:
-------------------------------------

First things first, when you create your account, you will spawn on the tutorial island. You will have a Fishing Rod, Bronze Dagger, Iron Pickaxe, Forging Hammer, 3 Perch, 2 Bronze and 1 Wood in your inventory. Complete the tutorial and you will spawn in the town of Dorpat.

Now lets begin! In the top right-hand corner of your screen, there is a money bag symbol. Hover over it to view your inventory. From there, click on your Fishing Rod to equip it! Now it's time to go fishing!

Once you have your Fishing Rod equipped, head west from the Makeover Guy (where you started) until you see an ocean. Stand on the sand and there should be an option to "Fish" when you hover over the water. Click the water and you will automatically begin to fish. When you succeed, caught fish will automatically be placed in your inventory.
When your inventory is filled with fish, it's time to head into town to cook them! Head back to the Makeover Guy, and follow that fence north and then east until you find the entrance. Once in the town, locate the Hell Flames. This is what you will be cooking your fish on. Click on the fish then on the Hell Flames. You will automatically begin cooking them. If you burn them, they will disappear.

Once all your fish have been cooked, head back over to the ocean where you caught them. You will notice a Fishing Master standing on the sand. Click on him to access the fishing shop. When the shop pops up, you will see the various items you can buy or sell to him. The number on the left shows the shop's stock of that item, and the number on the right shows the amount of that item in your inventory. Click on the perch in the shop. An option in the bottom right-hand corner of the shop will appear to sell it for 3 coins.

Once you have sold your cooked fish, repeat the process. Fish until your inventory is full, head to town and cook them on the Hell Flames, then sell them to the Fishing Master. Keep doing this until you have sufficient money to move on. However, you can continue fishing if you enjoy it.

One strategy, after you make 320 coins, is to buy an Iron Pickaxe from the Forging and Mining Master in town. Mining is more profitable than fishing. You can start mining Clay by heading down the ladder just west of town, north of where you were fishing.

Just be warned that if you decide to train combat, you will lose ALL items in your inventory upon death! However, coins and items in the chest will not be lost.

------------------------------
USING THE CHEST:
------------------------------

The chest is an essential part of RPG MO. It allows you to store any items you have acquired through out game play. You can find a chest in every town. To access the chest, click on it. The interface is very similar to that of any store, except instead of buying/selling you withdraw/deposit. Regarding any item, the number on the left is how many you have in the chest and the number on the right is how many you have in your inventory.

The bottom portion of the chest interface is where you can withdraw/deposit items. From left to right; "Withdraw" withdraws one of the selected item, "8" withdraws 8 of the selected item, "Destroy" destroys all of the selected item, "All" deposits all of the selected item and "Deposit" deposits one of the selected item.

The top portion of the chest interface offers various options. On the left, you can access section 1 and section 2 of the chest, by clicking "1" or "2". You can only access the 2nd section of the chest by upgrading it for 500,000 coins. This is simply just more storage space. In the middle of the interface, you can access the market by clicking "Market", which I will explain here in a moment. If you wish to leave the chest, click "Close" in the right-hand corner.

--------------------------------
USING THE MARKET:
--------------------------------

The market is a versatile place for you to buy/sell items to/from other RPG MO players. To access the market, first click on the chest. Then in the top-middle of the chest interface, click on "Market". Once in the market, you will see 3 clickable options at the top of the interface which take you to the different tabs;

- Search -

This is the default tab you view when you open the market. Here you can see all the active offers put up by other RPG MO users. To view them, simply hit the "search" button. Looking for something specific? No problem. Simply narrow down the search field by using the drop-down menus, and entering a custom price range.

- Transactions -

This tab shows all your current offers in the market, and allows you to remove them if you have changed your mind. You can have up to 5 active buy/sell offers at any given time. This is also where you pick up cash/items obtained from other players after a successful transaction.

- New Offer -

This is the place where you set up the offers for other RPG MO users to see when they use the "Search" tab. Here you can specify what you want to sell, how much you want to sell it for and how many of that item you wish to sell. Alternatively, you can put in an offer to buy an item, and how much you are offering for it. Want to sell/buy an item to/from a specific player? No problem. Simply enter the player's name you wish to do business with where it says "Everybody". Currently, this is the only way to trade with other players in-game. Once your offer is in, you can manage it under the "Transactions" tab.

This game sounds like a horrible nightmare. Nothing says pulse pounding excitement and immersive fantasy like 2D virtual fishing.

How is this monetized, through microtransactions, ads or both?
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Krystalkatt

They fund the game with microtransactions and out-of-pocket costs. They recently just paid off the initial server cost (that's how new the game is lol). They are trying to balance the game somewhere between pay2win and play2win by making both donor items and in-game items powerful.

I know, sometimes it's hard to accept pay2win games, but when you take into account how difficult it is to get a game rolling, it's understandable. I'm just happy they are;

1) Doing it right off the bat

and

2) Making (most) non-donor items more powerful than ones you can buy.

I play because I enjoy the game, and I don't mind supporting something I love
