This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Silverlion;437856CCM doesn't really do Storygames, although she does do genre-emulation games, quite good ones. (Slasher Flick, Cartoon Action Hour) for example.

I really want Macabre Tales (sadly I have no dominoes, either.)

Thank you, Tim. I appreciate it. I hope you like the game.

Quote from: One Horse Town;437920Lovecraft and dominoes for the win.

The playtesters have all stated that the dominoes somehow add something particularly Lovecraftian to the game.

Quote from: Tommy Brownell;437937Exactly.

I'm not a fan of Lovecraft OR dominoes-as-randomizer and I wanna check this out off of the strength of Slasher Flick and Cartoon Action Hour.

Many thanks, Tommy. The fact that you still want to try the game even though you don't much care for the source material or the means of implementing the game mechanics really means a lot to me.

Quote from: Broken-Serenity;437941Maybe for gencon they could do a limited edition run that comes with a set of domino's for those who really want a copy but dont have any or dont know a place to buy them that isnt miles away?

That's an intriguing idea. It would be even better if I could have Lovecraftian dominoes made especially for Macabre Tales... but I'm sure that would be way out of my price range.

Quote from: VectorSigma;437970If you're in the States, you should be able to get a set of dominoes at any Wal-Mart or Target.

I bought mine at the local dollar store for about 2 dollars.

Yea, dominoes are insanely cheap. If you have kids, thay can build with them or line them up to know them down.

I found the background of the preview a tad dark - made reading a bit harder, if you printed it, more ink would be used and some printers would make it look like crap.

I like the dominoes idea - different ones work better or worse depending on the level of ability. I'd have to try it in play but it seems like always having 3 to choose from means people will choose the best one 70% of the time. Another possibility is to start with a larger pool that regenerates but does so slowly, like one more every major scene or one for every decent sized story success. If you run out, you always get to draw one. Early on, success would come easy but a tough adventure would eventually push a player to the point where they've run out of dominoes.  This might increase the tension.
