This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What kind of asshole is rpgpundit?

In a recent thread in which he was whining because someone had attacked hium after being called various named by him, pundy dragged me into the thread even tho I hadn't said a word in it by called me "retarded".

OK, so when you go slapping offensive names on people during a debate they aren't even involved in, some people might consider you to be an asshole, especially if they're one of the people being offended.

So pundy's an asshole. Now I just wonder what kind of asshole he is.

When people think that they can go slamming people with lables like "swine" and "retarded", then bitch when someone fires back at them, there are two possible explanations:

1. He's an arrogant asshole who thinks it's his god given right to insult people but no one had better dare say anything he doesn't like. A lot of arrogant assholes become mods, like cessna, andy hackard, etc.

2. He's a stupid asshole who doesn't have the fucking brains to realize that when you call people offensive names like swine or retarded they're going to often fire back.

So, which kind of asshole is pundy? Stupid or arrogant?
RPGPundit is a fucking fascist asshole and a hypocritial megadouche.

If we're going to start calling folks assholes (what do I mean "start"?), I feel compelled to cite this little gem from Team America:

QuoteSee, there's three kinds of people: dicks, pussies, and assholes. Pussies think everyone can get along, and dicks just want to fuck all the time without thinking it through. But then you got your assholes, Chuck. And all the assholes want us to shit all over everything! So, pussies may get mad at dicks once in a while, because pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes, Chuck. And if they didn't fuck the assholes, you know what you'd get? You'd get your dick and your pussy all covered in shit!

Profound.

I'm sorry, there's many more posible subcategories of asshole available, and most of them are not mutually exclusive. Do a little research, come back with more choices, and be sure to allow multiple checkboxes. Until then I'll have to abstain.

You know, Nox, I really don't give a fuck if you start threads like this on the Off-topic forum. Go nuts. Like I've said in the past, it just acts like a huge walking billboard you willingly put around your neck announcing to all and sundry that no one should give a fuck about anything you say ever.

However, I was planning on bringing up the fact that lately, you've been getting  quite aggressive and disruptive in-thread on threads started by others, about RPGs.  In particular with trolls and threadcraps pointed at Jimbob.  I would like these to stop, because they're killing some otherwise very productive threads. Until now, you hadn't actually been doing this in any serious way, and so between that and the fact that you start threads of your own that were produtive, meant that you were tolerable in this forum. But if you're going to start with posts like the ones you made on the "Skill Lists" thread, well... let's just say that this is a posting strategy you might want to strongly reconsider.

I don't mind being insulted, it's the threadcraps that annoy me, whether it's Nox saying what a cunt I am, or grubman saying how terrible it is that this place is unmoderated.

Threads drift, sure, but it's nice if people don't do too sudden a shift off the rails and into the water.

If Nox wants to start threads saying I'm a cunt, or grubman start threads saying we need different moderation, I think that's fine. Threadcrapping is really bad for forums, though. I mean, you can't look at all the threads, so you select those which look interesting based on the title. But threadcraps make the threads unrelated to their title, so people get disappointed and quit the forum. It's like if someone advertises a D&D game, you show up and they're plays Dogs in the Vineyard, or vice versa, you'll get pissed off, and maybe not trust that advertising service again.

Yeah, threadcraps aren't good and I agree in spirit with what you are saying here. However, let's give Grubman the benefit of the doubt, as I don't think he was ill-intentioned in this case. There's really no comparison to Nox.

That's why grubman got an actual response from me, whereas I just paid no attention to Nox's comments.

Still, it was like the ugly part of rpg.net had come crawling into my thread. "ZOMFG where r t3h modzorz to save us!" I just thought, "Mate, no-one else is paying any attention to the shit-stirrer, obviously we're not bothered, why should you be? Go look at the forum guidelines before questioning them."

Well for my part in the Nox threadcrap - I apologise.
But the fact I could reply in such a fashion without having to worry about red text is a blessing I cannot give enough thanks for.

But it must have seemed like bizarro-world for grubman, to get called for threadcrapping after me and Nox were flinging monkey faeces.

This site makes me want to be a mod so I can sit back when the shit kicks off like some Boss Hogg type sherrif.  All the privileges of modhood (namely, none - 'cept you get to say you're a mod). None of the hassle of having to call people out because they've said the wrong word or offended someone elses sensibilities.

Actually, its probably tougher here. Because here, you don't get to do whatever you want with your power. You have to actually find ways to resolve problems without just banning people.

Mcrow

there are a few people I would have liked to ban and  (but since I have to follow the sites constitiution)didn't bother complaining about them.

I guess it will happen eventually, that someone will have to banned.

Mostly what I do around here is spam control and move a thread every now and then.

none of the mod here are mod just for the sake of having the title. We all contribute some way. Mostly I tend to do spam control when logged in and move a thread every now and then.

James McMurray

Don't listen to that Mcrow guy. You should see the type of person he lets be a mod over at another forum he owns.
