A pretty easy idea for a thread.
I'm currently reading Black City Saint by Richard Knaak.
Also, the newest Marion G. Harmon Wearing the Cape novel.
What happened to the old "What are you reading?" thread?

I think there was some weirdness when the site updated a while back, where threads that were not active in this subforum got removed.

Started reading an online translation of Bafa Monk Zhuan (Legend of the White Haired Maiden). This is the story that the Bride with White Hair is based on. Really cool so far. I am only 90 pages in (and there is something like 1,500 pages in this translation---though I don't think the page lengths correspond exactly to normal page lengths due to the format). Always loved the movies and the series, and this is turning out to be one of the better wuxia novels I've read.
Just finished the last David Webber Safehold doorstopper and now starting a conservative bit of wish fulfillment called Monster Hunters International.
About 2/3rds of the way through Heinlein's The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress. I've been a Heinlein fan for 35 years, longer than I have been a Traveller fan, and I am surprised I have never read this one before.
Eh. I picked up a Timothy Zahn book the other day, mostly because I remember Splinter of the Mind's Eye so fondly. If I'd read the exerpt in the beginning I might not have bothered because of painful burning stupid. Can't remember the name of the book off hand, but the exerpt has him reaching for a cool alien stun gun he has after someone wakes him in the night.
Only, you know, he can't actually use the fucking thing because he isn't psychic, so he can't turn it on. He needs he partner to turn his emergency gun on for him.
Maybe the character is supposed to be a moron, but that is some moronic shit... he keeps the damn thing under his pillow. He SHOULD through it away, as its a fuckign paperweight as far as he is concerned. Its not like the character DOESN"T KNOW.
Well, I'll read it anyway. After I get done with teh Book of Joby.

MHI is a fun book. Not high literature by any means but definitely fun.
As for me, I just picked up "Code of Conduct" by Brad Thor.

You got a Timothy Zahn book, because you like Alan Dean Foster? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splinter_of_the_Mind's_Eye
Ah. Zahn's Thrawn trilogy of Star Wars books. Books that simply share a setting in common, by different authors, are generally not equivalent.
Maybe try L Neil Smith's Star Wars: The Lando Calrissian Adventures? Or some of Foster's other books?

I'm actually on the sequel right now. It's entertaining enough.

Well... yes.
Mostly because I always hear great stuff about thrawn, and I read Splinter of the Mind's Eye some time before Return of the Jedi, I always just think they were by the same guy.
Damn you and your facts, I prefer my reality.
