This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The one with the killer boomerangs. Saw part of it wayyyyyy back and its interesting. But the editing leaves alot to be desired. Action tended to skip in unpleasant ways.

Another one from this series possibly that am not sure of the name of now had a sort of claw/scissor weapon on a chain that decapitated people.

Check out this eclectic review and history of the various Flying Guillotine movies.

That is the one. I agree the edits are a bit choppy (film making overall is a little shaky, even though this director is normally pretty good).

I like the video break down of them. The first one and Vengeful Beauty (Flying Guillotine III in the video) are my two favorites. I've really come to prefer the latter as time has gone on (the guy who made this video didn't like the exploitation elements but I have to say I think those help make the movie). Master of the Flying Guillotine is pretty awesome as well

I remember watching one on a local channel that showed dubbed kung fu movies on Sunday afternoon.  The guy invented the flying guillotine.  Some bad guys got a hold of them and he had to figure out a way to counter them.  I remember he tried an iron umbrella at some point but it didn't work.  That's about all I remember.  This was back in the 80s.  I think it was the first one.

The one where he makes the iron umbrella to counter it is the original. It can be fun watching these movies again if you saw them on Saturday afternoons as a kid. Some of them look so much different when you see them at the ratio they were shown in the theaters (some still look kind of junky though lol).

The ones I watche back then were all stretched to 4:3 so they all looked like that.

I remember a lot of them being cropped or squeezed but also being pretty lousy transfers. Some movies still look that way when I get them on DVD or bluray (not typically though). Lately a lot have been getting really solid restorations. I still will see movies from time to time though that are clearly a bad VHS transfer

Tubi autoplayed to a movie called The Demon Suppressors: West Barbarian Beast.  I didn't expect much based on the title.  I'm guessing it sounds better in Chinese.  It was surprisingly entertaining.  The story was a mess but the good cast and fight scenes carried it.  The special effects, sets and costumes all look really good.  It's not a great movie but it' an entertaining one.

Watched "Late Night with the Devil." Loved it. Found footage film of the Halloween 1977 episode of a late night talk show where the host brings on a possessed child and bad shit happens.

Slow burn to start but really built up a head of steam.

That looks kind of interesting. Looks like it is on prime so I might check that one out

I quite liked this one too. The guy who played the talk show host was great

It seems to be at least somewhat obscure.  IMDB says it's the third installment in a series but I can't find anything about the series.  I can't even find any titles for the other movies.  I thought that the story might have seemed to be a bit of a mess because I hadn't seen the other ones.  I was going to watch them but I can't even find titles for them.

edit
I found Demon Subduing Division 3 as an alternate title.  I am starting to think that 3 is the number of the division and someone at IMDB mistook it for a sequel number.  If there are any other installments, I can't find any reference to them anywhere else.

Watching Queen of Kung Fu (here is the trailer:https://youtu.be/yc2der-tWSg?si=Ft72FsBn3ApqtAYX). I think someone here may have posted about it but I am not sure. I saw this in my feed for a while but ignored it based on the cover image. However I was tired of some of the really grainy kung fu I have been watching on prime and needed something more fresh and glossy. It is and is not what I expected. So far it is okay. I am only halfway through, so I don't know if it gets better or worse. It feels cheap in a lot of respects in terms of production (something about the camera movement is very off but that might just be an Amazon thing). The plot is a bit on the silly side and doesn't really take any effort to ground it (the plot is a bit reminiscent of Boxer from Shantung so far, except it is a dancing girl from a village who rises to power in the underworld, but she just kind of rises without the details really being explained-----they explain one key detail of her rise but the rest feels like background and is happening  over the course of days: and this short time frame appears to be done as a joke but I am not sure). The tone of the movie is pretty goofy. Characters are all quite colorful. But it seems like 50 percent comedy, 50 percent action. All those complaints aside, it is fun, much of the action is quite watchable. It feels somewhere across between Kung Fu Hustle and Boxer From Shantung but with a dumb blonde sensibility to it

I am watching a movie called New Big Boss.  It's directed by Donnie Yen.  I didn't know he directed movies.  As a fan of Donnie Yen, I hate to say this but he is a terrible director and this movie is terrible.  The fight scene that opens the movie is a confusing mess.  There is a guy who is threatening a woman.  He kills he.  I think he kills her.  He waves a sword at her and there's some blood.  Then some guy bursts in and there's a fight.  It's a confusing blur of people waving swords, ting ting sound effects and weird camera movements.  Then he adds dramatic lighting and some weird blur effect which I think indicates that it's a flashback to make it even more confusing.  It's not even 5 minutes into the movie and I already had no idea what was going on or why.  The rest of the movie follows suit.  The way the fight scenes are shot is just terrible.  The way everything is shot is just terrible.

Edit
I found the scene on Youtube.  This is the start of the movie.  There is no missing context.
