This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Last I checked most posters here were fiercely independant, or at least pretending to be, and would be ticked if you called them "left" or "right"... or especially if you called them centrist.

I went with right-moderate. I agree with a lot of principals on the right, but realize their futility or lack of power to be enforced. For instance, gun control would rock but it's an impossibility. I could never order a non-health related abortion but know it's not my place to tell others they can't either.

mattormeg

You might be right. I'm thinking that a lot of people skew left here, myself.

droog

I think it's a good idea to keep in mind that Left and Right are rather imprecise and shifting terms, prone to be coloured by the user's own ideology.

They're also culturally defined.

The American moderate right is our hard right, their extreme left is our moderate left and their hard right is essentially jackboots, concentration camps and Billy Graham for President.

I'm aware of all of this, but I think if people put on their thinking caps they can probably find themselves somewhere in the Left/Right spectrum.

Samarkand

I believe my political beliefs map out to "enlightened views" vs. "the rest of you unwashed heathen".  Oddly, this is well nigh universal for everyone else's political stance...

Seriously--classic liberal, with a suspicion for always taking the statist solution when a non-governmental approach would do.  At time flirting with minarchy, just not when I'm receiving government assistance.

None of the Above.

Extreme libertarian just shy of anarcho-capitalist.

I can't fit myself on that scale at all. Us anarcho-libertarians don't fit well into Left-Right matrices.

I'm aware of roughly where many people would place me. I, on the other hand, would feel compelled to sit down with these people and deliver them a political lecture.

Left-moderate. I'm pretty far left on social issues - pro-choice, in favor of gay marriage, that sort of thing - but somewhere around the middle on most everything else.

In Oklahoma, that's still enough to make me a filthy hippie.
