This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: beebermaybe i'll catch it on rental.  i'm an oddity, as a kid of the 80s who never got into the transformers craze.

I wasn't a big fan either. Still am not. Been looking at old stuff since seeing the movie and still don't get it.

I loved the show when I was a kid, but even when I had the chance, I still didn't buy the Animated Movie when it came out on DVD. I've got a hunch the show simply hasn't aged well enough for me.
Running: Dogs of WAR - Beer & Pretzels & Bullets
Planning to Run: Godbound or Stars Without Number
Playing: Star Wars D20 Rev.

A lack of moderation doesn\'t mean saying every asshole thing that pops into your head.

Me either.  That's what I liked about the movie, it made me feel like a kid again.  I don't know if I'll ever watch it again, though.

Dude, this movie is worth watching in the BIGGEST POSSIBLE SCREEN YOU CAN FIND. That means a cinema, usually. :D

I dunno... I got the feeling it might actually be better on DVD.

I dunno if it was the theater (which was new and "digital") or the shaky cams, but many of the scenes were tough to make out. I might be able to see more, better, on my trusty/dusty 27".

i'm also not a fan of theater crowds and costs, either.

and time, these days, is at a premium.  if i rent it, i can watch it over a few days.

I see the film is rated PG-13. Can anybody tell me if it's suitable for my 6-year-old daughter? She bought a Transformer (Sunstorm) with the gift voucher my mother gave her for her birthday.

Well, there's violence and a joke about masturbation.

Well, keep in mind, they don't happen at the same time.

The action sequences are pretty intense.  But, IIRC, there is no "blood and guts" style violence, though.  A few people die, though.

Yeah, you see buildings and vehicles explode, so you know people die, but it's not over-the-top. The absolute worst form of violence in the movie is a part where Megatron is standing back up from something and flicks a person with his finger quipping "disgusting". Of course, I secretly added "... Mr. Anderson" to that line, but I do that with everything Hugo Weaving says these days.

IMO, the violence isn't so bad, but the sex themes might not be appropriate for a six-year-old.
