Spring is Officially Here a.k.a. I killed my first snake of the season today

I really hate to kill anything larger than a mosquito or cockroach, but I get worried with my daughter out in the yard.  I think it was a black rat snake, but its markings are very similar to a pygmy rattler.  I know you can usually tell by the shape of the head, but I'd rather not take any chances.  Still doesn't make me feel any better about it. . .

Where do you live?

Man, I used to terrorize snakes when I was a kid.  I feel sick thinking about it today.  Poor beasts.  They really are beautiful, amazing creatures and I think that's what drew them to us.  But being boys, we were nasty and evil.  Mainly garter snakes but once we caught a black rat snake that was relatively (for us and the region) so freaking massive.  That really made our month, that find.

Southwest GA, about an hour north of the Florida state line, so we have a lot of snake activity in the area (along with alligators, bobcats, coyotes, etc).

Yeah, and they're helpful too.  They keep the mice, toad, etc. populations down.  But I have a 6 year old daughter who is absolutely fearless and three dogs who are absolutely clueless so if I see a snake I feel compelled to kill it.  She came in today saying "Daddy, there's a snake in the yard, but I don't think it's poisonous because its head isn't a triangle" and all I could think of was her leaning down close to get a good look at its head. . .

Absolutely! I got regurgitated sausage and a bit of fly vomit. Well worth it!

Ah yes, so your creatures are actually dangerous.  We had a lot of fauna in my neck of the woods, but it generally wasn't dangerous unless you were lost and starving or something.  Every now and then someone gets killed by a cougar but the snakes are mostly harmless.

edit:  I like your daughter's attitude!  She sounds tough.

Alright, so you can afford a Masterwork upgrade on one wing, and you get 63 XP for the fly. Nicely done.

PSP - you get 320 XP for the snake. Alas, since you left behind the Skin of Molting, +3, you have nothing to sell for those new Boots of Slithering you've been wanting. Maybe next time.

So what's the XP on the 10 I killed yesterday with the old magazine?

If you're up to using an old magazine, you must have the "Pen is Mightier than the Sword" Feat - which means you must be at least 7th level.

So the 600 XP will be relatively meaningless...
