This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I am continuously baffled by the fact that they have no intention of 'punishing' him.

I mean, if they are right about his TB, he's pretty much a goner anyway, but its the symbology. You don't want EVERY fucker that gets a nasty disease like that thinking they can just do whatever the fuck they want until they keel over spitting blood on their fellow, previously healthy, man.

It doesn't do any good to have laws if you don't enforce them.  I'm sure, however, some earnest politician will now champion some new law to let the CDC do what it already could do, only moreso, just because of this. It'll probably get him re-elected too.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Oh you're going to love this... From what I heard on the tv news... homeland security is going to be handling it now.

I'm wondering how badly they'll screw this up. I know I'm in for some trouble. I actually do test positive, because I had it once and the test is for the antibodies.

The fucker should've been shotted at sight by the authorities.
Also he's in for a lifetime of monetary compensation if someone got the disease from him.

This is where it gets testy, though.  There's no law in the US against carrying a disease, communicable or not. There aren't even laws that can infringe upon your civil rights if you carry a disease, only health and safety guidelines that can still be contested. It'll be interesting to see how the DHS handles the legalities -- probably by means of mis-interpreting existing statutes or fabricating new ones as they've been shown to do in previous untested circumstances.

There's no doubt that what this fellow did was reckless and selfish, but I'm really quite enjoying this latest wave of hysteria that shows how quickly some people will roll on their backs and surrender civil rights of others if they think it'll somehow secure their own safety and comfort.

I just hope this fucker is sued to within an inch of his life. He'll have to hoc his wife's implants before they're done with him, if ANYONE gets sick.

Wow!  You mean in cases where a situation hasn't come up, and nobody has established laws or regulations, new ones could be fabricated?  What an interesting idea!

It's rolling over on "Civil Rights" by expecting people who have communicable diseases to act responsibly?  See, the problem is this guy.  If he'd acted responsibly, nobody would be at risk and nobody would be "fabricating new" laws to deal with it. This shit turns into stupid legislation because some fucktard thinks he's a special snowflake who gets to ignore common decency.

Yes. And I find it interesting that he went from "Shit, this is nothing, I feel fine so fuck 'em, I'm doing my big wedding in Greece where all my rich family and friends can come and oggle my wife's huge breasts, then I'm going to wear her out in three different countries before returning home to work personal injury cases for my daddy's law firm!". Then the CDC calls him in Italy and says do NOT fly, turn youself into Italian authorities for quarentine and suddenly its "Oh noes! I might die if I stay in Italy. I better get back home even if it means actively trying to evade flying restrictions and sneaking back into the US by not flying directly home, even if a few hundered people might be exposed in the process! And my breasts and I are going to wear masks for Diane Sawyer to film while we act all contrite and concerned so people will attack the incompetent government instead of my self-absorbed holier-than-thou ass! "

Fucking lawyer bullshit. GOD what an ass.

Oh, so you're in favor of law enforcement agencies creating their own laws, are you?  How progressive.

I included regulations for a reason.  It was a way to cover both the Executive and Legislative Branches ability to react to untested situations.

But then, you could see that if you read without your I'm-the-most-progressive-minded-and-therefore-correct-individual-in-the-room blinders on...

It's a cute rhetorical trick that....means absolutely nothing.

See, spying on me because you think I might be doing something wrong in private is stupid.  Calling someone out for waving a loaded gun aroundin public?

Yay.  One of the flights he was on came through my city.  Like a plague of Yankee tourists each summer isn't enough, we get real plagues thrown in for free.

Him leaving for Greece isn't the problem.  There's some question whether the county health authorities made it clear that it might be an unacceptable risk.  The real fuckwittery is him ignoring the order from the CDC.  Dude, county health commissioners are one thing.  Getting a call from the guys whose job it is to prevent major pandemics is a little more serious.  What, this jackass never saw "Outbreak"?

    *pause*

Now I'm imagining him getting chased through Dorval like the little monkey.  :D

Typhoid Mary spent the last 23 years of her life quarantined against her will.  I am not so sure that no law exists to cover situations like this; although on the other hand, you probably wouldn't have said so unless you had good reason to believe that.
