This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Proof that assholes have no sense of humor, unless it's them insulting people.

RPGPundit is a fucking fascist asshole and a hypocritial megadouche.

Dom, I'm gonna tell you something about the SJG Forums. It's the same thing I told Norman Mailer about Marilyn Monroe:

She doesn't love you, bro. Not the way you love her. And she never will. Move on.
The only thing I ever believed in the Bible was John 11:35.

Heroism is no more than a chapter in a tale of submission.
"There is a general risk that those who flock together, on the Internet or elsewhere, will end up both confident and wrong [..]. They may even think of their fellow citizens as opponents or adversaries in some kind of 'war'." - Cass R. Sunstein
The internet recognizes only five forms of self-expression: bragging, talking shit, ass kissing, bullshitting, and moaning about how pathetic you are. Combine one with your favorite hobby and get out there!

Sorry I don't see it.  Someone requests a ban for fear they'll do something stupid whilst under the influence of opiates.  Said request is approved and what follows is a bit of lighthearted ribbing at his expense.  No different to pub banter between mates.
A mod then locks the thread so as to head off any potential escalation of said ribbing (which seemed unlikely but it's their forum ergo their rules).

So either they're using subliminal messages or there's nothing in it.

Hmmmmmm.

Nox, you really layoff the SJG boards.

honestly, they are not nearly as bad as you make them out to be. Sure there are some shit snorters over there, but we have ours here (yes, Nox you are one of them).

Despite what you think, there is not a van full of SJG admins parked across the street from you. Get over it.

I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed.  It all seemed quite reasonable.

James McMurray

Same here. I was hoping for a back and forth bitchfest where a mod finaly says the last word then locks the thread. Instead I got a reasonable, albeit strange, request being granted by a friendly mod, and several people congratulating the requestor on his self knowledge. Very disappointing.

Koltar

The SJG forums ? again? He needs something new to flagellate his psyche with.
If you are guys are referring to the thread that I think you are - then yeah reasonable request that answered.

Well, Nox, I'm a loud mouthed asshole who's taken cheap shots at SJG pretty much constantly since I got the internet, I have to tell you they've never been anything but polite to me.  Not that I ever tried to discuss politics on their boards.  That way lies madness.

But I've slagged them many a time over GURPS third edition and the "art" in Magic, and the sixteen wasted pages in the Basic Set that could have made it viable to run a modern or space game with just the core books.  I wrongly claimed that the Character Assistant couldn't put out an ascii version of the charactersheet when I couldn't figure out how to do it.  Heck, I even blew up at Andrew Hackard once for wanting single spacing after a period.

And do you know what?  They still invite me to submit stuff for e23.  They still let me post on their message boards.  And they still talk to me at all, which is amazingly civil even for a guy who's used to Canada.

I'm hardly what you'd call a stable or level headed person.

So my answer is simple.  Avoid talking about politics.  Gaming is more interesting and fun anyhow.

As you're not from Canada, you'll probably be confused when I start singing "doody and doot and doot and do doody and doot and doot and do yak yak yak yak yak yak yak" and calling for the house of commons dancers.

hhmm... I had relatives that lived in both Kitchener and Winnipeg. What you type seems vaguely familiar.  Visited up there when I was an itty bitty kid.

It's from a scene they did on Wayne and Shuster where the CBC goes to american network executives to get advice on how to improve the ratings for "This Week In Parliment".  Imagine Parliment as a variety show with flashing lights and leggy dancing girls in sequined corsets!
