This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

OK, I'm Here.....

If JB shows up he can defend the following quote: "D&D3 is, by and large, the game I always knew was locked inside the horrific, Gygaxian design values of AD&D."

One of my first twenty threads on rpg.net,

http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=78069 ,

got Bacon a 90 day ban. Though I had nothing to do with it - I had been out for 30 pages when the fireworks started.

Bacon's around my neck of the woods somewhere, last I checked.

I hope he does show up.  That comment makes only a little sense to me.

No matter what else one may say, and I always rather liked him, JB is perfectly capable of standing up for anything he says.

He's like GMS in that, he'll argue his side robustly and sometimes downright rudely, but it generally doesn't carry over to the next thread unless you act like a dick.

Personally, for me JB put-downs were one of the great joys of rpg.net, and I've been in more than one flamewar on the opposite side to him I think.

Smart guy.

I find that strange. To me he is just the stellar opposite of you. I always get the impression you're debating to get something from it, exchange views. Sometimes I disagree, sometimes I agree.

Justin Bacon enters threads to "win". You know the infamous pic showing a mentally disabled kid winning a race, with the caption: "Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics... Even if you win, you're still retarded."? Well, I've always thought that picture was pretty useless except for a few nutcases and Justin Bacon is one of them.

I went through almost that entire fucking thread - man do I need a life...

And if I were to go by that thread alone, I think this JB would fit in great here. I might disagree when he crosses "the line" (subject to your personal tastes), but it's certainly entertaining...informative even...

I think we are in many ways opposites, I just think he does what he does well and entertainingly, if sometimes infuriatingly.

And he is an excellent reviewer and sometimes has some real insights.

People like the oddest posters, I've always been a big Bradford C Walker fan, which I'm not sure people would naturally guess.

Pierce Inverarity

Ditto on Bacon and BC Walker (sounds a bit like WC Fields). Also, as Wil and I agreed on rpg.net the other day, same goes for Gleichman and Michael Richter.

Also, Mike Zebrowski. Much less abrasive than the abovementioned lot, but has his moments and knows his shit.

There's one more that escapes me right now...

From reading Wick's Livejournal, I learn that this, supposedly, is where the "crazies" are to be found.

After spending the first two months of 2007 fighting cancer, the thought getting in amongst the "crazies" doesn't really scare me.  Even a little bit.

I lurk for a couple months, and I see a community which is far more like the RPGnet of Old.   The one that I loved.

So, here I am.

Welcome home, brother! :)

Howdy! When I saw you were here, I dug out my copy of Underworld. I haven't found a group to run it for (yet), but I go back to it over and over for ideas. Good health to you.

Howdy. Not sure about the "crazies" part, but welcome :)

Of course, Im one of the few members (I think) around her that wasn't banned by RPG.net, not sure if that makes me more or less crazy.

Anyway, welcome.
