Title: new NIN album/online thing

This sounds like an awesomely dystopic future setting for the new NIN album.
Essentially, the government comes up with a drug to combat the threat of bio-chemical terrorism.  Unfortunately, it's a mind-control drug...

love this part from bethehammer.net:

Quotethe parepin makes us compliant, but kills aggression. different soldiers get different pills to put it back.
regulars get little blue ones–we call them "die-agra." blue pills keep you frosty and get your soldier on.
blue pills are fun.
sometimes, if you are very good at your job, they give you red pills. the red ones are called "blisters" or
"bloody mary" or "jerk"
red pills erase the line between killing and fucking. some of the damage is permanent. your family, you
can't go back once you've taken the red pills. they told us that part afterwards.

Vaguely interesting, but I have to be honest -- the last use I had for NIN was chasing a recalcitrant possum out of my garage with Further Down the Spiral.

Admittedly, i also believe that Trent's a bit much, but i just like the 'story'.
(just as I'm no fan of Jello Biafra's politics, but i love the music..)

I'm just surprised that Trent hasn't lightened up over the last decade.  I know I have, which I think is why I sold off all of my NIN collection some years back (which, admittedly, I now rather regret).

And, yes, the story snippets were kind of fun in a chilling sort of way.

I used to like NIN but Downward Spiral was the last album I enjoyed from Reznor.

It was...challenging, and Further Down the Spiral even moreso.  As I recall, he partnered with Aphex Twin on the production of the latter, and if you know anything about Aphex Twin, you know to expect a full-scale assault of noise.  The possum didn't know what hit him.
