Title: Limewire & eMule

Are these two programs basically using the same networks? Is it likely that something you don't find on one can be found in the other?

They both use seperate networks.

I advise against utilizing either, however.  Limewire itself is spyware, and even if you go for the open source version, Frostwire, the network itself is full of scam links, virii, spyware, the works.  eMule isn't any better.

Get yourself a good Bittorrent client (I recommend uTorrent for Windows), and a good torrent search site like ISOHunt.  If you're just looking for single songs, which is what most people still use LW and the like for, Soulseek is a much better app and network for finding music.

I have been using eMule relatively successfully for several years now; but I've run into some difficulties lately in finding things, its as though the sources for many things are just drying up. I don't know if emule is waning in popularity or what the problem is.

Limewire I tried many many years ago, and stopped using it because of the Adware problem.  I am not sure if the problem has been resolved or not.

Does anyone else have any opinion about these?

I use eMule, it does the job for me well enough (though some stuff is hard to find).  I don't actually download stuff all that often, though.

I've also use bittorrent before, but found it to be much clumsier.

I use emule exclusively for tv series. if you steer clear of the dodgy cracked software you'll find it a joy to use. I use phantomp2p.co.uk for direct emule links to virtually every UK & American tv series.

Ok, this sounds interesting... I've used emule for a long time but never heard of this. It might be exactly what I'm trying to find here (some very obscure UK programs, some of them rather old).

Could you send me a PM about how this phantom thing works?

And at this point, i better close this thread, since technically I'm violating my own rules. If I keep this up, I'm going to have to ban myself.
