Title: It's kind of hot
Post by: Martin on January 04, 2007, 02:13:50 AM
It's past warm.  It's probably an indication that I should be outside, but I'm an indoor monkey from way back, especially when the sun is nearest to the Tropic nearest me.  I mean, I've been outside and it's not so bad, but it's not so good.  It's just that it's stuffy in here.

Stuffy, stuffy, stuffy.

Anyway, much love for those of you whom I bear that emotion, like for those who deserve that honor and the rest of you can suffer my ennui.

We don't call it 'Aussie'. That's a person. We call it Straya.

Hey, whiule there's a aussie here to ask, I wanted to check up on something:

Well over a decade ago I heard a sews story about how austrailia's "great barrier reef" was dying and like 90%, and how ehrn it died it was going to be a huge, colossal ecological disaster for australia.

Now, despite desperately wanting to slap jimbob like the bitch he is, I actually like most australians and australia as a whole. (I could do without some of the spiders down there, especially the funelweb, but that's no reflection on the people.)

So, whatever happened with australia's 'great barrier reef' situation? Was it all hyperbole, was a solution found or what? I'm curious as I actually kind of like australia. With the exception of some of the indigineous life forms down there (the aforementioned funnelweb spider, the bushmaster snake and some of those huge blonde tarantuals I've seen down there) I'd go so far as to say if I couldn't be an american I'd have probably chosen to be born in australia

I have finally reached the stage of persona incognita it seems.  I blame myself really.

I do live in Australia, but I'm not an Aussie.  I'm near droog it appears.

Well, with nine posts total... two on this thread that you started, what exactly do you expect? :D

It's been unseasonably warm out here for a month or so.  Better than the pounding snow and subzero windchill we had in early December that made letting the dog out such an adventure.

I don't expect anything.  I suppose that there will be a person or two out there who will see the name 'Martin' and think back to those heady days of youth where we all used to go to Pops Soda Shoppe and have hot fudge sundaes. Ah, those were the times, weren't they?  Then we'd all pack up on our bicycles and head down to the crick to jump into the cool, cool water to drench the heat of the summer months.

Most of the rest . . . well, there you go.  You won't remember me because you never saw me.  I was never here.  Invisible even.

This doesn't change it from being hot.

Marty, mate! What the fuck are you talking about?

You're in Melbourne? It is indeed hotter than a bastard.

Check out gamecircle.org, we'll get you a game group. Then you can sit around sweating with some large smelly gamers! :D

Nothing and everything.  I used to be a regular at Nutkinland so there are those who may still frequent this board who know me.  Beyond that . . . it's hot.  It's just starting to cool off here in the house.  I expect to have the fan blowing on me through the night.

I am indeed in Melbourne, or at least fifteen to twenty minutes away from the CBD depending on what mode of transport I take (although really it's fifteen minutes from here to the train station by foot and the trip itself is twenty minutes if the train is at the station when I get there so that's not the most accurate estimate).

I think the heat has cooked your noggin. Go have a cool shower.

And come to gamecircle.org. Lack of gaming can also cause madness, and rpg theory.

So, Martin, which line are you on?

The Werribee line, but don't hold that against me.  I get off at one of the stations before the end.

Alternately, if you live in the Western Suburbs, then change my reply to:

"I live on the Werribee line and am proud do do so!"

Huh – we'll probably turn out to be neighbours. I get off at Seddon.

I've never found the Seddon station to be that exciting, but if it works for you, then more power to you.

Not terribly far off.  I'm three stations further down the line.

It's not very exciting around here at all, though there are a lot of MILFs.

Newport, eh? Do you like to smoke pot?

I went to game in Footscray today.

Some pasty-faced white boy junkie tried to mug me.

On the plus side, for the first time in this GM's Cthulhu games, I lived, and everyone else died, instead of the other way around. Yay!

Is that a requirement for living in Newport?

If the other people I know in Newport are any indication, yes.

It's part of my requirements for new players. If you can't suck down three bucket bongs in a row, you're out.

Crikey! You don't have to drink the water afterwards, too, do you?

That's a good idea – perhaps for extra credit in chargen.

I think the last time I smoked pot was in '93 or '94.

And it's hot again.  Hotter tomorrow.

How hot does it get over there?
Down here in Uruguay we're getting around 30 celcius degrees on the south, and around 40 on the north every day, but it is the humidity that makes it worst.

It's been in the thirties.  Then drops down to the twenties.  Then shoots up to the thirties again.  It's mercurial in more ways than one.

I grew up in the desert, so while I am used to hot, I'm also accustomed to being able to hide away from it in a climate controlled environment.  The added humidity and the lack of air conditioning is something that I adjust to, but it's slow and I'm not always loving on it.
